Name not available but not taken

I deleted an old char I wasn't using and went to make another with the same name, however it says that the name was unavailable.
I have waited over 24 hours and the name hasn't been freed up. I have checked the armory and the name hasn't been picked up by anyone else. Can anyone help?

Wait a bit more. I guess it takes time for the database to be refreshed... My friend had the same problem, just wait.
