I was wondering if I could donate for my buddy using the same card I used on my account. What kind of risks am I putting my account to if I do so (if there are any) and is that generally allowed?

No, it isn't. We don't store (or even receive) any credit card data. It's all handled by Paymentwall. The most that can happen is they ask for documentation to prove you own the card, in case their fraud checking is triggered by that.
