Hate sounding like a noob because I always do a bit of research with my class on everything but due to the limited proper resources I've been able to find for Mage pre-bis gear list, I made an *****ic mistake. I'm new here and wanted to use some points I accumulated for a boost on my GS for my first raid tonight and purchased a wand (Scepter of Lost Souls). I currently have Brimstone Igniter which is 139 GS but the shop/store displays the (Scepter of Lost Souls) as 232 GS lvl...so yeah, I spend all my points on it. First thing I do once it comes in the mail is look at the GS and it's actually 127 GS lvl which is even lower than my actual wand to being with -_-
My point is this, since the shop mislead me to purchase this based off the information displayed (gs lvl) is there something I can do to get my points back AND does someone have any advice for me so this won't happen again? Ideally an accurate Mage pre- BIS gear list leading to actual the BIS slots? I feel rather dumb but need help it's been years that I've theory crafted WotLK content. Thanks for you time.
GearScore and Item Level are two different things, the numbers you are reading in the tool tips on the store are item level. Item Level is WoW's built in system for comparing gear and it's mostly based on raid tier, GearScore is a player-made addon and is only viewable in-game.
I personally don't play a mage but you should always buy/earn gear based on the stats on it, not the GearScore.
