I always leave pvp on, since its a pvp server. but recently i've noticed that until i actually attack a hordie, i am always flagged pvp off (blue name) unless i right click on my portrait, and click to select pvp on... even though the option is ALREADY selected. Selecting it again puts up the faction shield and toggles pvp on, but i really dont want to have to do this every time i log in.
why does it keep flagging me off, and how can i prevent it?

First, pvp toggles off after 5 minutes in all major alliance cities and all allaiance starting zone. Each zone that is faction controlled makes you non pvp after 5 minutes in there. Then there are contested zones where you will aways be pvp as well there are enemy controlled zones that will flag you pvp too the instant you enter it.
From WowwikiThis realm type features Player vs Player play-style as opposed to a PvE realm. The main difference between a PvP realm and a PvE realm is that in a PvP realm entering any contested or enemy territory automatically flags you for PvP combat and you cannot unflag yourself while in these zones.
