Friend Dissapeared from game

Hello, i have a friend that was levling with me for a long time, since lvl 40.

Now we were both 78 yesterday I went to work and he dissapeared from my friendlist, from armory, from guild.
I have mails he sent in my ingame inbox but i cant mail him.

Makes me wonder what happened, was he banned or maybe deleted toon?

Unfortunately the only means of contact I had with him were in game :/

He either deleted his character or changed faction and character name.
