Bought 3 gems for my guy on Icecrown from 3 different people (auctioneer) but all 3 of them say they cant be equipped. Any idea why? Note: I just returned after about a 3 year absence so may have forgotten a few things.

No, two yellow and one red

Care to say which gems are? Some are unique-equipped gems like the dragon's eye (3 max), or that Kharmaa's Grace and that "family" of gems, if you bought those then you can't equip any more of those.

The yellow ones are Rigid King's Amber and Smooth King's Amber..the red one is Fractured Cardinal Ruby

To put a gem in a socket, you have to shift + right click the item first. Are you doing that?
