1. League WoW Servers

    Hey Community and WM Staff

I've been playin private servers for some years now and it feels like whenever a new server opens it's so much hype everyone is super motivated for the journey to gear up get those first kills and so on, wether it's tbc or wotlk, but after some time things die down and stagnate soon as the whole content is released.
Hardcore players feel like there is nothing more to archieve, casuals feel like they miss out on something when starting on a server where everything is released allready and I've been thinking to myself what can be done about that how can you maintain the hype for those older WoW expansions on a project instead of allways looking for new projects that offer the journey that people are looking for.

What I'm suggesting is something I took from another popular game "Path of Exile" which offers leagues that are running for a certain time and afterwards your characters and progress will be saved on the standard servers which are permanent and if you so chose you can continue playing your characters there.
I feel like this might be quiet possible for warmane to provide -> add 2 new servers 1 tbc 1 wotlk which will be progressive (maybe nonshop for competitive aspects), that will reset after a certain amount of guilds have cleared the content maybe even with some sort of reward system in place for doing so and transfer your characters/guilds to Icecrown/Outland if you want to continue playing those once the servers reset.

Warmane provides the highest quality in terms of working raids aswell as pvp mechanics that I've seen so far on private servers, aswell as its servers seem to be able to handle high amounts of players and I'm not saying it's perfect yet hell there are some bugs here and there to be fixed and people seem to jump on that immedietly making drama, some content release timings might not have been perfect either and this would prove a real challenge for WM staff to optimize for sure, but the end game might be that a lof of server hoppers that seek progression might find a place where they permanently have it and a lot of new players that want to experience an expansion in it's entirety might find it.

This is just an idea of mine I know the possibility that it's completely ignored is quiet high so just shoot some comments why it's bs at me or approve/suggest things how something like this might be possible, improved and eventually done.

    Kind regards and merry christmas

  2. To clarify this is by no means me asking for a new realm or anything which would be against the rules regarding suggestions, but rather something to think about and eventually realize at any given point in the future if WM staff think it's a good idea.
And I would specifically ask about not harassing any staff member about it as they had nothing to do with this nor has there been any talking about any of this with anyone I just wanted to get the idea out there.

  3. What your suggesting already exists, it's progression servers. Ideally you need two, one maxed rate and another normal. over time you progress the normal rate server until you cant anymore then you dump all chars from the normal rate server into the max calling it a server merge and start a new low rate realm. Rinse & repeat.

  4. well you clearly didnt read the post thanks anyway.

  5. I did, just sayin this is the current process doesnt need to be a bunch of complicated nonsense like stated above.

  6. I'd be totally down for this. I hope warmane sees the potential in this suggestion.

  7. you can still delete your BIS toon and start all over, at lvl 1 tho.

  8. you can still delete your BIS toon and start all over, at lvl 1 tho.
I can but I wont and it would not solve the issue that I addressed but good idea keep em coming.

  9. How exactly do you see...

... fitting together? You do realize "server" and "realm" are the same thing, don't you? And you're blatantly suggesting for not one, but two to be added, whether "seasonal" or not.

  10. No I do not suggest or expect anything here I just wanted to see if the idea in general would be something you might be interested in doing in the future eventually.
I realize to set something like this up would require an insane amount of work so this is by no means something I do expect or ask for but rather a thought that I wanted to share and see how WM staff and community feels about it in general I'm fully aware that something like this cannot be realized anytime soon and likely not for years to come and I can absolutely understand if you say you're neither interested nor able to do it due to work hours required and possibly a lack of interest from the community and/or project management which is something I hoped to find out here.
As this is something very experimental and hasnt been done by any project that I know of nor to my knowledge has there been any discussion about something alike.

In that regard it may have been my bad to put it in this forum section, though I really didnt know where else to fit it in.
I do realize I used the word suggest though in my original post which was a poor choice of words there.

  11. It's not a matter of work or just interest. There are costs and maintenance involved with two extra servers, and then there's the fact it would both likely cater to a minority as well as just divide the community. I'd personally see it used more by people who wanted to gear up with less competition in PvP than anything else since, after all, the competition against equipped characters would be pretty much the sole difference from starting a new character in the existing servers when you get to the bottom of it.

  12. I thought about that aswell though due to the fact that it would be progressive servers it would also mean that a lot of gear/content as in badge gear or crafting recipes aswell as season rewards due to progressive seasons would be harder to come by than on the servers that have all the content released, this is also why I said it's experimental in a way that it remains uncertain for now how many players from other servers would join in on that, other platforms like reddit might serve to provide more information about that for sure.
I myself am not a virtuoso when it comes to server hosting and what would be possible at all as those older game versions are restricted in multiple ways such as the maximum amount of characters on an account like there is a lot to consider here I'm sure of in case you guys would ever consider to realize something like this.

As for the cost this is something I was aware of which is why I was hoping for more feedback from the community, though since it was Christmas I guess most of the people had better things to do than responding to a forum post which is understandable, not to mention not everyone is using the forum at all, so I was hoping that in time more people might speak up how they feel about this idea.

  13. I do realize that what i'm talking about would not be a minor change it would not even be a big change it's pure insanity as it would change the very model upon which private servers function and might set new standards.
Personally I feel like it would be something new and exciting and I know a lot of people share this feeling, in my oppinion it is how blizzad could and should have handeled it when they released new expansions as there was allways a lot of backlash from the community about people wanting to play vanilla/tbc/wotlk and my educated guess is they had very concerns you're expressing to me which lead them to not do anything alike, that it would be an uncertain and costly investement with uncertain results, however this is also the very reason how private server popularity came to be in the first place.
I understand what I'm talking about would be a risk to take even with proper research and funding which is why all I'd like to ask is to consider the possibility, take some time and think about it and if you guys decide it's not for you then I think everyone would totally understand it, I for sure would.

  14. i dont think it would be catering to a minority considering the hype is there, but it wouldn't line warmane's coffers like shadowmournecrown.

I considered this but if characters would be playable on Outland/Icecrown whenever a reset would take place it would also create an influx of characters on servers with a shop system in place and I can imagine a lot of people would rather continue after a progression/league ends rather than starting all over right away while others that have been playin on fully released content for a while might be willing to join in on the next reset, as is the case allready just that right now the situation is people that want to play on a progressive server keep looking for new quality projects often ending up disappointed since more often than not expectations are higher than what the actual product can offer.
