WotLK Banned

Hey, last time i played Warmane was when it was re-formed from molten wow to warmane.
So after a long time and taking a break from normal wow i was intrigued to try playing wotlk again, but when trying to log in i wasn't able to, so i contacted support via email.
After them replying to me it was apparent that someone had stolen my account and i was able to recover the account gaining access to log in on the website.
After that i see a text : Banned for Theft / Buying Gold
I understand people might not believe stuff like this but hear me out.
I look the last login on my account was 9 months ago and the IP was located in Russia even though i have never lived there.
So what i assume is someone had got hold off my account and used it to trade/ sell gold?
Just wondering if anyone had something similar happen to them and is it possible to get unbanned?
I've actually donated quite a bit to the server so it's saddens me

Make a ban appeal using support system on website here. If that's not available, send an email to [email protected]

I did. Just wondering if it will be considered since the only evidence i personally have is the last logged in IP i saw on the website as i haven't been active here for a quite long time.
