An easy to find sticky guide for people like me that are new to Warmane, new to WoW and trying to understand expansions, servers, classes, account creation (It sucks that you only accept gmail accounts, why?) and how to start playing.

I assume i need to download the client, but which expansion? What's the differences?

Each expansion adds new content to the game and changes, in one way or another, the already existing content. The Burning Crusade is the first exapnsion, Wrath of the Lich King is 2nd, Cataclysm is 3rd and Mist of Pandaria is 4th.

Generally Wrath of the Lich King is considered the best expansion ever made and by looking at the online statistics you can see that it's most played as well. Cataclysm server got shut down and TBC and MoP servers are not highly populated, so if you want to start your journey and feel the real magic of this game I would recommend you downloading WotLK expansion.

And about the servers, Lordaeron is a blizzlike server, which means it's as close as technically possible to the Blizzard servers 10 years ago, when this expansion was live on the official servers. Icecrown is definitely most populated, but it also got increased rates, which means you'll level up faster, you'll do your professions faster etc. It's a good choice if you want the server to feel alive, because there are players in every corner or you don't have too much time to play, because on Lordaeron it takes a lot of time to get to the max level (which is considered by most as the real beginning of the game, because of the raids and many other stuff you can do). Blackrock is an instant 80 pvp server, if you are just starting with the game, I highly recommend you to NOT start there.

Thanks for the reply, but now that i tried it, i can't download the client.
Clicking on Download does absolutely nothing, unless expansion or operating system aren't selected in which case i get a red message saying i must select them.

It's okay, i'm downloading it, my browser didn't recognize the magnet link, so i had to go into the page source to get the link and put it into my torrent client.
