Recently I noticed that there have been a few changes in dungeons on at least Icecrown. Things like more mobs in Nexus in the ice room where the first boss is, changes to the spawns in PoS to make a pack unskippable, and the hallway in Halls of Lightning with the mobs that wake up if you go too close which is the main reason I'm writing this post. The changes I've seen have been plenty reasonable except for Halls of Lightning.
The hallway comes right after the forge master boss and the way it used to work was that if you ran down the middle of the hall, you would never wake any mobs up. Recently I've noticed that no matter where you walk, they will wake up anyway. This wouldn't be that big of a deal if they didn't fear people and cause you to wake more up until you end up overrun.
This part of the dungeon is not fun in the slightest anymore. Even with a party that is well overgeared for heroic dungeons, this section ends up causing wipes with no real way to deal with it except having lots of AoE crowd control and even more AoE damage. The amount of those things needed is not even close to a reasonable expectation for a heroic dungeon. To make matters worse, if you try to pull them away from the rest to deal with them in smaller numbers, they will sometimes not move from their original spot which usually forces the party to move closer and end up pulling too many.
One suggestion for a fix to this problem would be to make sure the mobs will chase after a target if they are out of range or out of line of sight. This would at least allow parties to pull them a few at a time. Another suggestion would be to change their fear mechanic to a "cower" mechanic that instead of making you run around randomly, you just stand in place. This would allow for ranged party members to out range it and melee to not end up running into more enemies.
TLDR: Warmane, please fix Halls of Lightning. It is not fun at all anymore.
