WotLK Prot Pala need gearing advice

Hi peeps,

So this is my first character that reach FoS and PoS (and also my first time playing WoW), I'm currently at 4490 Gear Score I want to do raids, but most people ask for 5k gears for raids? (never been in raids before tbh , so not too sure what to expect:|) can someone give me advice how to continue gearing up?

(or do I have to farm 2 emblem of frost a day for like months to progress to finally get to 5k?)

"never been in raids before tbh" - first of all be sure to read up and be knowledgeable about the fight encounter and the strategy (tank positions, things to do, when to taunt, etc) before stepping into raiding!

Back to your question:

Chest - your chestpiece is still the DPS one, try to pick up Icebound Bronze Cuirass from POS HC or Turalyon's Breastplate of Conquest from the enblem vendors outside Trial of the Crusader.

Wrist - consider picking up Saronite Swordbreakers which will last you quite some time until raiding ICC

Ring - Ashen Verdict tanking ring? Get the quest/ring from inside ICC and start killing trash mobs to farm up the reputation for free best-in-slot ring.

Trinkets - nothing much we can do here, black heart is great despite the low item level. Consider picking up Ick's Rotting Thumb from POS HC to replace your blue trinket.

While everything else may have their own little upgrades, the bulk of the gap may be covered by investing some gold and time into crafting Pillars of Might and Boots of Kingly Upheaval from a (trusthworthy) Blacksmith who has those recipes. Not only are they raid-level, you won't have to replace them until you're 6k+++ (e.g raiding heroic ICC).

As our fellow friend said earlier, before going into the raid scene, go read some tactics and watch some movies about the encounters and your role in each.
About the trinkets, you can farm EoT and get the one with passive armor and dodge on activation, replacing the blue trinket.
As for other items, blacksmithing has some nice legs and boots, if you have the spare gold.
Do not buy the T10 legs and gloves, as they drop in VoA and you won't have that much competition rolling for them.
Get into a nice and friendly guild which raids icc every week.

With 5k+gs , you can already enter icc10 alt run and do 6/7 bosses. Just learn tactics and voila.

I'm playing with 3 other people and fortunately one of them is blacksmith!
After reading WoWHead, I guess I just need to purchase some primordial saronite, and gather the rest of the materials :D
