WotLK Are Battlegrounds using some kind of Cross faction

I have seen many things in battlegrounds that looks we have cross faction like shamans with Heroism instead of Blood lust people with opposite faction mounts like Reins of the Traveler's Tundra Mammoth from the alliance with draenei vendors on top in horde side people with medallion of the alliance or people with alliance guild when you look for them in armory you'll find they are indeed alliance the question is do we have cross faction and if we do why still alliance is always more powerful than horde and how come that i have never been on alliance side.

yes, there is the mercenary mode that you can activate on your account and you play for either side
