My suggestion, since I am lazy, is to make an 'infinite' soul shard item for coins.
A one time buy that frees you from ever bothering with this annoying mechanic, which is even dealt with in future expansions.
I also want to note that I did search the forum for such suggestions but all I found was from 3 years ago and with all the things that were since introduced maybe the staff has changed it's mind on the matter.

If you still feel the same way I understand.

I feel your frustration. Having to carry up to 32 shards that don't stack, while other class resources do to at least to 5, isn't fun at all. Yeah, I hope there would be some QoL addition/feature to soul shards, but I can expect none would ever be implemented, as it's custom change.
After maining a warlock for many years I too hated this thing but, I donnu it feels too custom, even if it's a coin only thing so it dosent remove anything for normal warlock player it still feels way to custom for some reason, It's a downside some classes have, like hunters must get ammo, Horde shamans and their totem quests, it just how it was and how the classes were, There's a lot of things warmane could change to improve QoL but people don't play wotlk for that reason, maybe people want less QoL then retail offers, maybe thats a huge reason why retail became unpopular aswell.
There's a huge base of players that absolutely dispise these kinda things.
Maybe something more in between or both? Make them stackables and up to 80-100... I mean, even if you do like my suggestion instead of infinites I'd pay for it. I'm main warlock and this mechanic is way too annoying. Not to mention that you can get out of soulshards inside the arena since they still consume there.
