Technical Disconnected within 2 minutes

Hi, I just made an account to play with a friend, but every time i log on, I am disconnected within 2 minutes. It took me several tries just to make a character without being disconnected. This seems to be the case no matter what realm I choose. I have no issues on Retail or any other private servers. Do I need to forward ports or something? Please let me know if anyone else encounters issues like this. I would really like to play on this server.

Also, I should add that it is just the standard "disconnected from server" message that I receive, just like the one you would see on other servers. It happens within the same 1-2 minute time window whether I am on the character selection screen or in-game.

I just tried downloading the (old) version just for the hell of it, but still having the same issue. I have ensured ports are open & the client is allowed through the firewall. I'm not using a VPN or anything of that sort.
