1. Multiboxing - what is allowed and what isn't?

2 weeks ago, we saw a multiboxer getting banned for "botting" (could easily decipher it was a multiboxer, because it was a big group of players with same prefix on account name, and all was banned at same time for "botting").
This raise the question, while it's widely known in this server that multiboxing is allowed, the way it is done - using a third party software to run group of commands with one click - is pretty much under the definition of botting.
And while you could say that "he is just sending the same button click to several clients at same time", the stuff most multiboxers do, for example making all their accounts stand in a line facing same direction, cannot be done without writing third party scripts that does those things. Yet, it was already confirmed that those things ARE allowed on this server.

Yet, we saw a multiboxer getting banned for "botting".
So, can it please be explained what parts of multiboxing are allowed and what aren't? What count as botting and what isn't?

You could assume it's multiboxer, but you could be wrong. Or it was a multiboxer, using bot. Multiboxing is still legit and allowed.

a device or piece of software that can execute commands or perform routine tasks, as electronic searches, usually without user intervention (often used in combination): intelligent infobots; shopping bots.

Lich King is multiboxer, he actively controls what the scourge does. Lich King would be botter, if his scourge would run rampart without his commands.

  3. General rule is one button press = one action in client. How many clients doesn't matter.
Button press has to be initiated by live user not a script. So anything that happens automatically after some time for example is prohibited.

Regarding the formations it is easily achived only by sending single keys and ingame bindings.
For example have 3 chars, put them on follow (ingame macro) and run forward a bit. All chars should face same direction and be stacked on the leader.
Then have one (same) button that is not binded to anything in wow1, in wow2 is binded to strafe left and in wow3 is binded to strafe right. When you press that button leade will stay and other 2 chars will strafe to his side. No 3rd party scripting required.

Other things mbxers do is clever use of ingame macros, follow, assist, focus and interact with target commands. Few ingame items can also make facing the target easier.

The banned mbxer probably wasn't multiboxer at all, sounds more like fishing bot or other farmer.
