WotLK Sons of Hodir: The Warm-Up

Curious if anyone else is having an issue finishing this (important) quest?

"Use Reins of the Icemaw Matriarch, mount it, and kill Kirgaraak (50,67)."

I do exactly that, but nothing happens. I am lvl 80 with 5k GS... I beat the crap out of Kirgaraak, yet the quest doesn't give me credit, and I am left standing there looking like I was ruining the questline for lower lvl friends standing in line waiting to do the same quest.

It has been several years since I have done this quest, so maybe there is something I am forgetting to do besides mounting that Icemaw Matriarch.. special weapon, something?

UPDATE: Ok, what you have to do is back and forth attack, but DON'T kill him, he will turn green right before he has no more HP.

I actually completed this yesterday without even using the bear, just straight attacked the bugger.
