After a couple of years pause I have returned to the server and I want to start playing again with a some friends.
However my characters have been deleted, which I suppose is the practice after years of inactivity.
Can they be restored ?
Or at least can I get my Point Items back to a new character ?

Happened the same to me with my Burning Crusade characters and I didn't play for like two or three months and they are all gone I don't understand where are my characters or what happened.

TBC realm is closed.
You can move your TBC character to x2 wotlk realms (icecrown or frostmourne)

If you can not see any character after selecting "Outland" realm it means they got flagged for a rename.
Theoretically you should log them in-game to set a new name but I guess that is not possible anymore...

Good day did not play for about a month the last time I entered the game all the characters were in place now when entering the game writes that this account was closed and is no longer valid
