1. Guild Banks - What's the point of them?

I am the type of person who neither contributes nor takes anything from the bank because if the item can go into the bank, it can also be found on the auction house and I'd rather just buy the damn thing on AH than beg a higher ranked guild member for it. I don't want to put anything into the bank either because then I'm basically giving stuff away for free when I could have sold it on the AH instead.

I just don't understand why anyone bothers to use guild banks.

  2. Many guilds are tight-knit groups of friends. Yours isn't. That's why you don't see the point of putting something in the guild bank.

  3. Pretty much as Shred said - It's not about begging higher ranked members or giving stuff away for free. It's about supporting your guild and making sure everyone is progressing so you can defeat the raids / whatever your guild does easier.

If you put x in & take x out, then you're not losing out on gold. You're basically just exchanging an item you need for an item you don't. A lot of the times a guild bank will be used for profession items so guild members are able to use these supplies to get cheaper/free materials. Also will be used to store lots of food so when a guild does a raid, they don't have to worry about everyone wasting gold on food as they'll have a good stock of it ready in the gbank.

Then you have the guild bank gold, used so guild members can repair their items without needing to use their gold. Generally done so guildies who raid with the guild get free repairs since they are taking part in guild activities.

Some guilds may also sell their materials to their lower-level guildies for say 25% cheaper than AH listings - So they are able to make gold for the guild bank while helping their fellow lower guildies progress and become part of the raiding team or whatever.

(Then you have the other alternative use: You have your very own guild only your alt is in & you use it for extra storage for your characters)

    ----

Just because you don't care about other people and are playing the same solo dolo - This doesn't mean everyone has else too, quite a lot of players tend to play mmorpgs to play with other people & care about their friends becoming better. They are just simply team players. Guild banks are more useful than them being useless, you just need to play the game as an mmorpg.

But for the most part: If you're just in a guild to be social and not be apart of the actual guild raids etc - Then they won't even allow you to take anything out the guild bank, you may be able to deposit into their junk tabs at most.

  4. A practical example: it is common to have one or several members of the guild learn alchemy with elixir master. Members put all the reagents they find in the guild bank, and the alchemists craft elixirs and flasks which then in turn are used by all guildies when raiding.

Yes, we have been doing that a lot. Just: We sent flowers to the alchemist, he made them and put them in the guildbank for everyone to use.
