Gifted coins arrive instantly. He either wrote wrong character name, selected incorrect realm or is trying to scam you.

It's good that they gifted them to you, instead of asking money for it. Gifted coins appear immediately, unless they arrived at wrong destination, or they were never shipped in the first place.
