My partner died a month ago and I would like to preserve his character
My partner and I played WotlK on Lordaeron together. It was his first time interacting with the Warcraft universe at all and we were having a blast introducing him to MMOs, the game, the characters, and the lore.
He died unexpectedly a month ago and I have not felt able to pick the game up again without him, but I also don't feel ready to let our characters go entirely. I'm aware that there are purges and that I can preserve my character by donating to Warmane and I am happy to do that, however I do not have access to his account.
Can premium be gifted? Would his account need to 'accept' or 'activate' the premium in order for his priest not to be purged?
I had hoped to find his password somewhere on his PC so that I could move his character back to Darnasus where we sometimes liked to hang out, but I think that might not be possible now. I can at least try to preserve our characters for a little longer, or until I'm ready to let go.
Characters above level 30 don't get deleted in cleanups, they only lose their names. And that happens even if the account is premium, unless you log on the character often enough to prevent it (about once a year).
If you can get access to the account, all you'd need to do is login on the character around December-February. Or when cleanup is announced, look the details how to keep the character going, by logging in during a certain period.
