Technical Mercenary mode

Hello,

I think my account has some kind of bug/database error/client error.
So in the website settings page the Mercenary Mode is NOT checked out and it looks like it does nothing (the checkbox).
Before (earlier this year), there was an option ingame to turn Mercenray Mode on/off when you joined into battlegrounds. Now its gone.
Im getting randomy dropped into horde or aliance on battlegrouns.
Is this just my client? Is there a permanent fix or option to turn it off?

Mercenary mode is now mandatory for players of the Blackrock realm.
