I don't mean to antagonize anyone, I'm just genuinely curious. I'm currently playing on the Frostmourne progression server, and soon our characters will be moving to Icecrown, which has been on the last patch of WOTLK for a long time. I have a few questions about Icecrown:
1. Apart from ICC/RS, are people still doing any other raids?
2. Since there is no new PVE content, is the server mostly oriented towards PVP?
3. Do people frequently leave and newcomers join, thereby keeping the server alive?
4. Are people just creating new classes and raiding with them in order to keep themselves interested in the server?
Are people just creating new classes and raiding with them in order to keep themselves interested in the server?
Thanks :3
That's true for me, I just make new alts whenever I want to do something different. And I don't play all the time, sometimes I play for 4 days in a row then drop the game for a week or more etc.
VoA, ToC, ICC and RS, sometimes Ony or OS mount run with ridiculous GS requirements, lol. Vanilla/TBC raids for transomg. Not much else as far as PuGs go.
Most people play multiple classes as it's incredibly easy to speed run from naked lvl 80 to 5K+ GS in a matter of days and then either struggle in PuGs or spam ICC with a guild. You'll find a lot of new players and also a lot of veterans who have been here since 2009. It's a very active server but yeah, not much variety - FoS, PoS, ICC over and over and over.
I delete my characters whenever I get bored and re-make them from scratch when I come back. I'm not even sure if it's fun, not as much as it used to be a decade ago that's for sure.
1. Apart from ICC/RS, are people still doing any other raids?
Yes. They do pretty much all raids. ICC/RS/ToC are the main ones, but people do raid older content for achievements, transmogs, nostalgia, and for fun.
2. Since there is no new PVE content, is the server mostly oriented towards PVP?
No new PvE doesn't mean people would stop playing PvE. They just play it for different reasons. E.g. alts, old content.
There is strong presence of PvP enthusiasts. PvE is no different.
3. Do people frequently leave and newcomers join, thereby keeping the server alive?
People leave, join, take breaks as they see fit.
You don't have to worry about server being "alive". Even now at 23:50 GMT on Tuesday night, there are OVER 9000!! players.
People do different stuff all the time. Do note this is still going after several years of being in the same patch.
4. Are people just creating new classes and raiding with them in order to keep themselves interested in the server?
Yes, and no. They also make same classes/specs again and again. I even have 2 FDK's. One's BiS (IIRC), one's near 6.5K. I could just make 3rd Paladin, or a 3rd Mage for the hell of it. That doesn't mean I wouldn't play on some of my older characters. Some maniacs out there are trying to "complete" their characters. You know, trying to 100% WoW on 1 character. People do weird ****, you know.
There are many players playing for various reasons. There's always something going on.
