1. Client version vs content relase version

    Greetings,

I would to understand how it is going to work. The server is announced as, having old skill setup, yet working on a wotlk release and progressively going fwd up to wotlk content.

"You will be able to experience the original spells, talents and mechanics, gear stats and functions of each expansion, without having to switch your standard WoW client that you own and use to play on Warmane realms with."

Does this mean that the skills for each class will be as they were in classic at first? Because there is a significant difference on how they worked in classic/tbc and wotlk. How is it even possible? They manually merge the code between these two versions?

    Thanks,

  2. Your client is remotely modified by the server every time you connect to make it work the way the vanilla client worked. That includes talents, spells, etc

  3. thanks for that info, so all i need really is a working 3.3.5a version and the server will modify it to current req?

  4. Yes. The PTR is currently up and you can see for yourself.

  5. NOTE: Spell/Skill MECHANICS will work as they did in classic. Example: Hunters will have the "dead-zone" where you can be too far to melee, but too close to shoot with their bow/gun. Priests will have their racial spells like vanilla (Dwarf Priests have Fear Ward and Undead Priests have Devouring Plague). All these things are calculated on the server, send to the client(s) of the players.

However, VISUALS will match Wrath (or HD) textures/animations, since those are from the client...so your graphics may not look vanilla, but the damage, cost, when your character has access, and all the other important details should match Vanilla.

Atleast we hope for it. But unfortunately i am finding some things that not working as they did in classic. Warlock's "Fear" for example. Looks like it stays as it was in wotlk - easely breakable even by dots. Classic's "Fear" is harder to break by dmg, but noone changet it from wotlk to match vanilla. This is crucial for warlock gameplay and will make his life on Onyxia difficult. Sad.

But what about tooltips of spells, items and talents will they be displayed correctly without use of addons to display correct information?
(I wish i had found some time to login during the beta)

Tooltips should show the Vanilla data during vanilla phases as far as cost, damage/healing done, and effects. Tooltips don't update increases/changes to their effects from gear (AP/SP/etc) (this was true in Wrath as well as far as I remember), and talented improvements often don't display in the tooltips, but will be in effect.

I know there were bug reports about Thorns and Improved Thorns talent...I can't remember if it was the spell tooltip, the buff tooltip, or both...but it would always read the original value "does 12 damage" (or whatever the number was for Thorns) even if, with the talent, it was doing 18. The devs said this was a client-side limitation, and was how it worked in vanilla anyways.

I would like a clarification on this myself, as I was hoping to enjoy me some Warlock this time around, but would hate to be gimped :(

Unfortunately looks like this problem (with warlock's "Fear") will not gonna be fixed. I made a report in bugtracker 2 weeks ago about it and received a meesage that they done some changes with this ability. The i checked it ingame again, but i didn't see any change.
You can check my report on bugtracker with name "Warlock ability Fear". You can also check another report made 2 months ago named "Fears and Breaks".
"Fear" in vanilla has so much more stability than here on warmane, that i can only think that they actually don't know how to make changes to adjust it. It is really sad about warlock class. CC spells are class defining spells, especially on PVP server.

  11. What about the map? Is that going to be from WOTLK or Vanilla?
