This specifically happened to me because I wanted to buy the ashen verdict ring but I don't have the rep (skipping the grind, which is the whole point of the shop). So I couldn't equip it when it arrived. There's really no point in being able to buy an item you can't use. The shop should at least have a confirmation box warning about this.

The point of having it in the shop is so that people who dual spec can have both rings, so they don't have to exchange rings every time they change spec. Anyways, if it's within the 24 hour grace period, you can get a refund.
The tooltip on the ring also specifically says it requires you to be exalted with Ashen Verdict.
