Technical Retrieve old characters

Hi there,

I used to play on Lordaeron a couple of years ago. When I now log in, it still says that there are 4 characters on the server but not a single one of them is showing up in the character list. I assume they are removed after a certain amount of inactive time? Is there any way to restore them? That would be really great and appreciated.
