I think S1 gear becomes available for honor when S3 hits.
S2 just lowers the cost of S1 gear.

On PTR, s1 gear is only available for arena points, around 15% cheaper than it is now.
For honor, only new Veteran off-pieces are added (wrist, waist, boots, neck and ring).
The grand marshal/high warlord gear is available for the same amount of honor. No s1 gear for honor.

Yeah, I saw them. Its ogyginal like at TBC? I wonder if anyone will actually farm the S1 set when S2 is right next to it. What does it matter that it costs a little more points if it provides a proportionally similar advantage in stats. So the rumors about S1 for honor were false, PTR confirms it. Thanks for the response and great insights!

It's like vanilla TBC iirc, and yea, doesn't make sense to buy S1 set then, especially with double points

It is bull****, S1 items should be available for honor in S2 as it was on TBC originally... it seems the Warmane is doing its own thing once again... their decisions are becoming very unpopular I would say. Making people leave more and more. They should just follow the Blizzlike and listen to their player base. period.

... Back on retail it was not before S3, S1 was for honor. in S2, S1 has a discount :)

Making S1 gear available for Honor in S2 would likely be an unpopular decision. Players have spent months grinding for their S1 set, and allowing others to farm it in just a few days at the start of S2 (or even purchase it on day one if Honor and Marks are retained) would completely undermine the effort of those who originally earned it.
Also, back in the day S1 gear wasn't available for honor in S2 - they are 100% blizzlike in this regard.

I think the opposite is the case.
Each season will last only 3 months which is a very short time period for newcomers to catch up.
We urgently need catch up mechanics. Otherwise the pop will drop because newcomers will give up and gearing up alts will be unattractive.

We already have double AP gain, increased honor gain, purchasable BG marks and no rating requirement as catch-up mechanics. Additionally, the argument about short seasons works both ways: the shorter the season, the less time players have to enjoy the gear they worked for in arenas. This makes it even worse when that same gear becomes available for honor in the following season.

In order to get 5/5 s2, s2 weapon and relic you'll need 13k arena points.
That means that even with double AP rates a player needs through the whole season a rating of 1800 in 2s to gain 13k ap. After 12 weeks he'll be fully decked out and can enjoy his gear for a couple of days because then the next season will start.
When I look at these numbers I think that either the seasons should last longer than only 3 months or catch up mechanics need to be implemented.

No, just the gear would be enough... Weps for a bigger discount and arena points! So it can all be even... Even with Blackrock players.. as their gear is much easier to get.. thanks Warmane! and LISTEN FOR ONCE!!!
