1. Run warmane on linux?

Any idea on how to run warmane on Ubuntu? I play wotlk with my friend, and his pc is so slow that he's thinking on getting Linux, but since we don't know if we can play wow with it we are unsure

  2. Switching to linux won't make his wow run any faster.

  3. Not using linux anymore, but ran it fine a number of months ago when I was. I used wine and tried a couple of other launchers that use wine/proton behind the scenes (e.g. bottles). I'd just google "run .exe on ubuntu" and there'll be a ton of guides, will work fine for warmane. Linux really breathes new life into older hardware :)

  4. Lutris will install it for you. Easiest way to play most games, literally an app that will download, install and setup many existing games.

  5. Switching to linux won't make his wow run any faster.
This is almost certainly true, but the OS will probably run a lot smoother, and the naturally lower RAM usage for linux could also allow them to use more RAM and thus improve performance.

Correct. Just saying, if his problem is low fps, then Linux won't fix it.

Also if his problem is low fps he should try dxvk instead.

  7. I use bottles to run on linux. It works perfectly. Lutris also works, but it's had its issues. Though as it has already been pointed out, that wont help poor performance of your PC. Best course of action is to lower graphics settings as low as possible and not use crowded cities as a benchmark. Even on decent computers, hundreds of players in one area will affect performance negatively.
