    Spy Taint

    The Spy addon is throwing a ton of .lua errors. I've confirmed it's Spy by running WoW (3.3.5a on Icecrown) with no other addons loaded. I've disabled .lua error reporting in the Interface options and enabled taint logging. I've disabled read-only on my game folder. Both the most recent 3.3.5 version from Curseforge and the WotLK version from Felbite are throwing taint.

    Here is the output of two tests I just did, again with only the Spy addon loaded:

    Not sure if it matters, as most taint really doesn't, but I'd hate for it to block an interface action that ended up wiping a group.

    Spy seems kind of essential for a lvl 65 main new to Warmane when many others (opposing faction) have multiple BiS alts running around.

    Any .lua big-brains around who can tell me to either ignore it or what the solution is?

    First, go to the following location:
    Game Folder =>WTF => Account => <Account Name> => SavedVariables
    There, you'll find two files containing the word "Spy" — delete both of them.
    Then, download and install this working version of the Spy addon: this version of spy addon.
    This version works perfectly for me , I use it daily.
    To disable annoying pop-up LUA errors, you can either run this command in-game:
    Code:
    /console scriptErrors 0
    Or go to Interface > Help and uncheck "Display LUA errors".

    "I've disabled .lua error reporting in the Interface options and enabled taint logging."

    As stated in my post, I've done all of that. I've checked this against deleting both files in the WTF folder and deleting the entire WTF folder itself, and thus having to rebuild my entire UI just to see if it made a difference. Have you enabled taint logging with /console taintLog 1? I'll try that copy of Spy but I bet it's throwing errors too. Most taint is just sloppy code that doesn't impact game performance, but I'm not knowledgeable enough to decipher those taint logs to know for sure.

    I should add, since it's not apparent without digging into those logs, that it only occurs when initiating combat.

    [Edit]: Nope. That copy is throwing taint too. Both with and without other addons loaded.

    If you're seeing "Interface action failed because of an addon" in your chat frame (when you initiate combat, if it's throwing the same errors as mine), you're getting taint, which will appear in your Logs folder as "taint.log" if you have enabled it.
