Pull the mob you wanna tame while mounted on a flying mount and fly up, if it follows you in the air it will follow the kinetics too. You can also send the pet (once you tame it) to random flying mobs in Northrend to check will it go up to it.
For doing kinetics you have 2 big choices for pets, you either go with a ferocity pet or a cunning pet (the family trees are important the individual pet abilities aren't that important).
Ferocity pets:
The main benefit of ferocity pets is their survivability because their talent tree is just filled with them: Improwed Cower (usually your pet gets slowed when they use cower, but with this talent it doesn't so free 40% dmg reduction) Bloodthirsty (heal on attack) Heart of the Phoenix (INSTA RES!!!) Call of the Wild (you can have your big burst before kinetics spawn)
These pets are best when you're either doing kinetics with another hunter or when someone else is helping you (basically, when you don't have to solo kinetics), you can still solo kinetics with these but they aren't as fast because they don't have perma Dive, they only have the normal Dive and 30% passive movespeed which is still nice but not as good.
Pets which can fly in this tree are Moths, Wasps and Carrion Birds. Imo Moths are a slight favorite because of their ability to heal themselves but its very small and on a 1 min cd so just pick whichever one looks best for you.
Cunning pets:
The main benefit of cunning pets is PERMA DIVE !! Basically because of the talent Mobility your Dive (60% movespeed increase which lasts for 16 secs) is on 16 sec cooldown. This is the tree to take if you need to solo kinetics and chill. Rest of the talents don't really matter, only thing is Dive doesn't stack with Boar's Speed so don't waste a point there.
Pets which can fly in this tree are Bats and Birds of Prey. The difference between Bats and Birds is minimal and again comes down to which pet you think looks better (If you decide to use Bats don't use their Sonic Blast since it can bug out the kinetics).
My general opinion is it just depends how much you wanna make your life easier vs how much dmg you wanna do on BPC. Of course Wolf is best for dmg and you can solo kinetics even with a Wolf but I just like chilling with my Bat when I have to do kinetics.
Hope this helps :)

Very nice guide, I saw the discord exclusive version a few months ago before you posted here to the forum, and it was absolutely critical in making me understand BPC, which is easily the most overwhelming and stressful fight for a new hunter.
Hey! My RL has just asked me to tame a wasp for BPC, I'm assuming to help with when we try to progress BPC HC. What is this exclusive discord version you mentioned? Where can I find it? It sounds incredibly useful!
