WotLK Donation Related Question

Hi, guys!

Straight to the point, I already have a split shape belt and would love to have a second one for a another spec which requires a different gem structure. Is it possible to donate for a second belt and be able to store it in your inventory? Since, it is impossible to loot it if you already have one, the game simply will not allow you to take it. Would it not happen the same if i donate and try to take it from the mailbox?

It may be a silly question, I appreciate any feedback beforehand!

You're on the right track. It's a unique item so it will get stuck in your mailbox, too.
