    question loot rules!

    Hello everyone,

I been playing on warmane since 2016 and i never wondered what the real "loot rules" were.
As far as i can remember every one has been pressing need on BoE world epics in dungeon groups and ive accepted that fact.
I was never bothered to report this or even to be frustrated about it. Same for reputation items were people need on Tomes or armaments, i never cared about it.
Today such event happened in a RDF where a low level world epic item dropped and this time when i pressed need on it some player said this was ninja looting. Although i didnt even won the item i felt very offended since every1 had been pressing need on these kind of items.

I made me wonder if this is ninja looting or is this just a smart way for that person to claim a BoE telling every1 else he was the only 1 allowed to roll need on it so he can sell it on the auction house 1 hour later? Cause i checked his gear and he had better items then the BoE.

Can some 1 explain whats considered normal these days cause i was used to the fact every1 rolls need on such items.
Maybe i was wrong and i want to know now.
    Thanks in advance!

On the subject of rolling Need/Greed for gear(clothing/weapons/accessories), it's more or less very simple. Whatever item drops, the same principal is applied:
    - if you CAN and WILL equip it as an actual legitimate upgrade to your current specialization(tank/healer/dps) in the instance - you press Need.
    - if you CAN equip it but you're not planning to, rather want to vendor/auction it - you press Greed(or Disenchant).
    - if you CAN equip it AND it's a legitimate upgrade item for you but you can't roll Need(leather for warriors/palas for example) - you obviously press Greed and ask for it if someone else wins it. IF YOU ARE AWARE IN ADVANCE that such items can be found in the instance you're in, be a smart human being and ask the rest of the party to not straight up disenchant stuff.

All these three are more or less dictated by knowing your class(reading a guide or two) and going for the appropriate gear respectively.

All other profession-/skill-related items(lockboxes, recipes, etc.) should technically be a simple Greed roll, but people feel this strange desire to roll Need on everything regardless.
All soulbound quest items should be ok to Need on if presented with the option to roll them, since what's the logic of ninjalooting a quest item that has no vendor price and you can't auction it... But this is just my opinion.
