Hello everyone,
I'm a new player on the server and I had a little trouble with the settings being reset every time I logged in once installed and account being made etc. My suggestion is too simply put a link in the tutorial on how to make the game folder be put in the right place, changed out or "read-only", and the wow.exe to be "run as administrator".
You dont need to put all these steps in the actual tutorial itself in detail, but in the tutorial you could just link to a quick three step guide to make the game settings register better. e.g. "Make sure to put the folder in you Documents folder, change the properties to read only, and make sure the wow.exe runs as an admisnistator. As seen here. [link]" (all that info was taken from a thread on this forum btw)
Most people would know what that meant and wouldnt even need the link but some might find it helpful. Just a thought to make the barrier of entry a little less barriery.
Big fan of the game, thanks to the folks thank make it happen.
The "Read-Only" attribute is not specific to World of Warcraft, it's a general file/folder feature applicable to any folder/file. A simple Google search for "How to remove read-only from a folder" will provide the same instructions regardless of the context.
