1. Unauthorized software or modifications.

I want to talk about the issue posted on bugtracker today. Figured it's better to do it on the forum rather than creating another bug report.

So basically I'm having the same problem as this guy from this report:
    https://www.warmane.com/bugtracker/report/131268#

I'm using awesome wotlk patch manually combined with another patch that fixing the bug causing your cursor to jump to random location thus making your camera rotate to random direction when you click anywhere from time to time, which is as you may probable guess is quite annoying and regardless of being well known bug it was not fixed even by blizz since forever. The only thing I'm using from awesomewotlk patch is basically auto-login feature.

Even though I can argue about banning things like this, which is clearly not giving me any advantages in the game, I understand why would you do this. You don't want to bother looking for every external exe patch testing if it's doing something malicious.

So I'm 100% fine with you guys changing your rules regarding different client modifications, but I'm not really fine with the way you communicate these changes. And by that I mean not only lack of information before the change but your communication after the change. What I mean by that? Well, first off, how should I ever knew what is allowed and what is not, if it's was never stated anywhere in your rules? The only 2 things I found regarding client is

Warmane.com does not support distribution of any game clients
Another one was a rule regarding hacks:

    NO HACKING
This is really basic and "shouldn't" need further explanations. Players caught making use of cheat programs for example, to Speed Hack or Fly Hack (most common offenses), transmog weapons or armor of different types or other cheats, are banned from the server. Do not bother to appeal over a ban with the GM, as they will not discuss it. This is not acceptable, even if you are donator. It has no relevance when upholding the rules.
which is indeed quite obvious, but is too vague. I can be like 100% sure that farming bots are obviously against that rule, but how could I tell if the same thing applies to that patch? As far as I know based on the patch description there were nothing inside of it that could potentially give me unfair advantage over other players. So I've installed and used it for over a year I think without any problems. But today without any proper warning I got dc'd from raids and lost some important loot.

While unfortunate, I can deal with losing loot, but this raise a question - why this patch suddenly become marked as a hack? Why I'm even asking? Well, because I want to play the game keeping the autologin feature and obviously camera fix patch. But I can't. Why? Because there was no communication from your side. The guy from bugtracker got this answer:

    Intended change
but what exactly was changed? How should I know what exactly is not allowed? Because if I would know I can disable that part keeping the autologin part intact. Not to mention that now I'm not even sure if I can play with camera fix patch without a constant fear of getting banned out of nowhere. I mean is it really necessary to communicate with your player base like that? I believe that it's more profitable for both sides to be more open to a dialogue. So I expect some clarification at least.

  2. You wont get banned, at worst you will get kicked until the addon/patch in question removes the feature triggering warden.

For now as mentioned in the other thread its the AwesomeWotkPatch

Thanks for the answer. Guess I'll just hope that patch author and warmane dev team will manage to communicate with each other.

Latest version of Awesome WotLK - Nov 16, 2022 (https://github.com/FrostAtom/awesome_wotlk)
3 years we have no problem and use it...
The functionality of Awesome WotLK improves the client. However, the iTargetingFrames addon (https://github.com/CH33T4/iTargetingFrames) stopped working.
Mouseover bomb dropping and mouseover casting of channeling spells no longer work — these features exist and work fine in the retail client.
Some WeakAuras have stopped working. Nameplates started overlapping each other.
Which functions in this patch are triggering it to be banned after 3 years of use?

  5. Thanks for the answer. Guess I'll just hope that patch author and warmane dev team will manage to communicate with each other.
Very good suggestion, I hope Warmane developers can adopt it

  6. Could we get a definite [yes/no] kind of statement on awesomewotlk please, because the 5.19 Weakaura backport by NoM0re clearly depends on it. So let me rephrase the question: Is awesomewotlk allowed on Warmane?

How many more responses do you need?

  8. Sorry, but I mean an official statement. Btw, if I remember correctly, then Merfin did some work for WA 5.19 as well., so this would go down the drain as well.

  9. Oh, never mind. I didn't realize that Nobuemon had an official tag.
