Hello there.
I've been playing here (Lordaeron) for a few years with some long breaks (had a few accounts).
However, I've never faced latency issues until recent times. At the days of Onyxia launch I started to experience some lags and latency spikes. Also I found some weird issue like geo networking QoS or something (not sure), but it was the fact: playing from Netherlands (Alkmaar) via wireguard udp tunnel was better than from my country despite the tun encapsulation overhead (it was my personal VPS).
To make a long story short, latency became good eventually even from my location. UNTIL (Ray William Johnson is in da building) it got bad again (and playing from other location doesn't help anymore). Nowadays if feels awful for me after 2-3 P.M. server time. The fun part that the game menu shows me latency like 60-70 ms, but believe me, I know how 60ms feels like. It's not 60 ms when your ability takes 20-30% of Global CD (!!!) to trigger. It's more like 300-400ms. I've asked about the issue in the global chat and gotten the same complaints. I know that not everyone on the server faces the issue, but want to ask warmane team if they by some chance have noticed some performance problems with the server (storage latency, net saturation, dunno what else) and if they gonna fix it.
I mean I know warmane is a free server and the team doesn't have to do anything about my problems, but I'm not the only one who is experiencing this issue.
I have also been experiencing same problem and many of my friends are also struggling with this matter for almost 8-9 weeks now...I thought it was one of my addons gone wild or something, but that is not the case because even without any addon the problem still exists, we thought it was something regional about our ISP until I see your post (same hours-same period) and at this point I am pretty well sure it is a server related issue, people are asking me to use large adress aware which I have been using already, clean installed the game just yesterday to see if my client is somewhat corrupted, nothing ever solved it, and it magically disappears at the times server is not populated(such coincidence right). I believe many other people are experiencing this issue, and I want to add that, the freezing delay effect (mostly) disappears on raids, dungeons, battlegrounds and arenas where you have your own instance, but try leveling in anywhere you start hating the game, I just switch characters, even quit game at that time and stop playing. I hope someone see your post and give at least an explanation on what is going on with the server.
The servers are fine. it's your ISP. Sounds like it's peak hours and during peak hours with 213984798347 people on the same network/infrastructure it's going to be laggy on YOUR end. Just because someone else says they have an issue too doesn't mean it's the server. If that was the case, the flat earthers would be right since you can find them online now. Suck it up.
Then how come my network works just fine with every other online game I have but only with warmane and same hours with many people, I believe you can change your attitude to the post and can propose some other way we obviously cant see to handle the problem apart from telling people to suck it up. I never intend to blame this server in any way, it is amazing and I REALLY enjoy playing here, and also want to delve into this lag issue because it is there, trust me.
Because that's not how a connection works. There's no "if X works, then Y must work the same" on this, connections aren't equal.
Your ISP doesn't take the same route to reach each service, the distance from your ISP to each service isn't the same, the amount of hops it takes to reach a service aren't the same, the localized issues each hop on one path might be experiencing aren't the same, and your ISP/country/region can also block/throttle/have specific issues reaching specific services. In general, for a connectivity issue to be something on the server side the same problem will be happening to every player, not only the ones from one region or using one ISP.
"your ISP/country/region can also block/throttle/have specific issues reaching specific services"
I believe this seems to be the case, I just cant prove it yet and funnily when I try to run ping diagnose on router interface to warmane server, everything just checks out fine telling me no packet loss and 70-75 ping which is normal in here Turkey , but in game stutter/ freezes and setbacks , all more reason to hate country I guess...
