Missing characters?

I took a hiatus from WoW for a good little while due to life reasons. I recently came back after a password reset to find a single lonely 80 pally, and a 64 DK who apparently needs a name change? I'm fairly certain I had more characters than 1 plus a DK as I'm a natural alt-a-holic. Any insight on what may have happened? Is there any way to recover anything, or is it all lost to the ether?

There was a Inactivity Cleanup and Gold Squish back in March of this year Gold was cut in half of what you had and characters Level 1 - 50 characters that have not been played since July 2024 will be removed. Premium accounts are exempt from removals and characters that have their name removed will have the opportunity to select a new name upon the next login. But for the missing characters if you go to your account>barracks you might see them there.
