Technical How to correctly understand "No botting allowed"

Yeah so, I know people have got banned for using ways to automate fishing for example, and I understand its bannable- rightly so- and thus have happened.
But then we have chat bots, other bots, which are allowed- such as mbox and chat for most clear examples- they are then however, allowed.

So my question is, I want to start botting too, but I want to do it in the limits, ( no ban like most of other players I notice ) and thus I have to ask what kind of automated processes handled by bots are actually allowed to script and what not?
I may write this in bad feeling and hurt by bots but underlying feeling is correct in itself- if it is allowed to some extent, where/how can I read the correct right parameters?

Only thing allowed is multibox.

Chatbots should be reported, though it's hard to prove they actually are bots, as they just stand there and interact enough not to get automated AFK logouts.
While chat messages that are automated by an addon are allowed, using a bot to keep the character online isn't.
