S4 gear during WOTLK pre-patch

Hello Warmane team,

I have a question about S4 gear during the pre-patch: Will Arena points be converted to Honor, and will Arena Season 4 gear be sold for Honor?

Also, if the AP will be converted to honor, could you please provide the ratio, like 1:10 or some other? And, if the char reaches 75k honor cap, would everything above be burned?

In the original 2008 game honor/marks/arena points were not reset at pre-patch. The arena season ended, but you were still able to get points until Wrath launch. S3 and S4 gear remained at their same arena point and rating cost as well. It was originally announced they would wipe everything at Wrath launch, but due to player complaints they decided not to wipe honor points/marks and only wipe arena points. Although level 80 rewards were a much higher honor cost than level 70 items so not wiping honor only allowed players to buy a couple pieces after they leveled.

WotLK Classic approached it much differently. Honor wasn't wiped and arena points converted 1:10 I believe. If you were honor capped it was converted into gold. Arena was ended and S4 gear was changed to honor.

I believe if Warmane doesn't replicate what was done in Wrath Classic did then there would be a tremendous amount of complaints. My observation is very very few people if any at all recall the original 2008 decisions and I believe at that time those decisions were made for a different player base.

I think it's gonna be like tbc prepatch. honor points are gonna be at 75k cap and brutal plus previous pvp season gear will be available with Honor only so people can gear up for launch.

Gosh, that means I'd be better spending my AP on the currently available S2/S3 sets without rating instead of waiting Sfor 4 to be available and then AP+honor wipe

Yeah I hope they don't do that again. I remember farming for 75k and then going into prepatch all of them were wiped out. Or at least let us know if they are gonna be wiped out or not.

Honor wasn't easy to farm in Vanilla stage here. It actually wasn't even supposed to exist. It was so easy in TBC pre-patch though you could farm a whole set in one weekend. Wasn't really that big a deal. If S4 goes up for honor it won't take any time at all to get.

Whether all PvP points are reset is not particularly important. There are arguments that can easily be made for any of "no reset", "prepatch reset", "expansion reset".

However, what absolutely would have a big impact on players is whether Brutal gear (S4) is available for just Honor, since relatively very few players play arena in any version of WoW. It seems in original WotLK this was not the case, while in WotLK Classic it was available. Given how few people would have played the original game vs Classic versions, plus how Warmane in general handles gearing, it would be very unexpected if the Classic route was not taken.

Is the only use for Brutal set the two week prepatch and the two days leveling to 80?

Correct. But the impact is not about endgame stats.

First you have to get to 80, secondly how would most have a chance to get that gear while still in TBC - let alone farming it for relatively less cost than endgame gear in WotLK - and thirdly for especially new players it is one of the few ways to rapidly catch up to existing players and level the playing field before the gates burst open for the WotLK rush. It also creates a large incentive to start and keep playing - including on recently leveled alts - during TBC while waiting for WotLK release.

Ya S4 wouldn't be much different than R14 was last year. You would get to maybe level 75 range and start to see better blue gear. The resilience on this gear may make it obsolete sooner. It would make for a slightly smoother transition into Northrend, but that's about it.

For example everyone would replace the S4 weapons with Champion of Anguish quest rewards.

If the Classic itemization poll applies also to WOTLK, then s4 gear should be buyable with honor in pre-patch.
