1. Is This Ninja Looting ?

I would like to describe a situation that many players have probably experienced, in order to start a fair and objective discussion:

I recently participated in a heroic dungeon run. The group was formed normally through the tool, and everything went smoothly at the beginning. Communication was minimal but not negative – just a typical random run.

After a few minutes, we killed the first boss. A two-handed weapon dropped, which, in my opinion, fits very well with my current build (Enhancement spec with a corresponding focus). Therefore, I rolled “Need” as usual.

As far as I could tell, no other player rolled “Need,” so there was no direct competition for the item. The weapon was not even properly in my inventory yet when I was suddenly removed from the group without any discussion or warning.

What bothers me about this situation is not so much the kick itself, but the way it happened:

    There was no prior communication
I followed the server’s rules and guidelines
I had no opportunity to explain or justify my decision

From my perspective, I acted correctly: if an item is useful for my build, rolling “Need” is exactly what the system is designed for. I understand that certain playstyles (such as 2H Enhancement) are not considered “standard,” but they are still viable and legitimate.

I would be interested to hear your opinions:

How do you see situations like this?
Should non-meta builds always roll “Greed” instead?
Or is it the group’s responsibility to clearly communicate loot rules?

I’m looking forward to your thoughts and a constructive discussion.

  2. I honestly believe the "burden of communication" is on your end if you want to play an off-meta build. Usually I consider those things on the same level as offspec, so greed is appropiate to press. Unless of course everyone is on board with you before you need on random items.

You simply cut out the whole part of communicating yourself and demand communication on why you're getting kicked.
Maybe play uno-reverse and look from their end: There's a shaman randomly pressing need on a probably strength 2 handed weapon. Neither 2-handers nor str are used on shamans anywhere. They simply assume you're a gold-greedy guy and kicked you for it. Which is simply them using their right to do so by majority voting. No explanation required.

So yeah. Your in my opinion you're at fault for failing to communicate and shortcutting your way into pressing need. If they file a proper report you're even quite likely to get a ban for it because while your explanation might be "okayish" for some it's just as likely to be a hard "no-go" for others.
