Hello my shamanic friends!
I'm currently in the process of leveling my first Shaman and I'm wondering which spec is better for PvP. I'm not sure if I want to do either Elemental or Enhancement. I know Enhancement Shamans are pretty rare, is that because they don't do well in PvP?
I've read some guides on here and some other forums but sadly, I didn't find any answers I was looking for. Any guidance would be appreciated. :)

If you want to be constantly accused of abusing bugs and be hated, roll an enha! :D That says how good our damage is xD Plus we got more survivability than an ele, which is a glass cannon.
Both are "fun" and have good potential...but when it all comes down to it your own preference for melee or spell casting is truly going to make the difference. But, for 3v3s people always ask for me to go either ele or resto anyways.
I suggest you try them both and see which you find the most fun. do you like spamming attack buttons while hoping to get a WF proc? or do you like controlling your crits and instant lava bursts, and blasting people away with thunder (which usually fails to push anyone even an inch).
practice your kitting skills and go elemental spec.
Speaking as a melee, i can't do dmg if i can't get inyour range.
So elemental (with a little ench. talents) has high/dps and crit abilities, and allow you to perform great kitting, to get range and burst your opponents.
As for casters, your CCs are more than enought to keep you alive.
WotLK? - Both are very viable and have niches in PvP. Enhance is more complicated of the 2, you have to be amazing at micro-managing, but if you can it can really shine. Elemental is easier, and fits more comfortably into most 2v2/3v3 comps. If you roll enhance you're pretty much limited to Beastcleave (Bm/Enh/Hpal, INSANE burst with lust + pets, incredibly easy and makes people rage xD) or maybe Turbo if you're exceptional (Enh/Arms/Hpal). Elemental is great in LSD (Destro/Ele/Resto, one of the best comps in the game) and Thundercleave (Ele/Arms/Hpal, also top tier comp) or pretty much any Wizcleave will do. There are very well written extensive guides for both on the forums (the Ele guide written personally ;D) Enhance is a toolbox melee, great utility and decent burst when using CDs, but survival depends on skills and Elemental is a more straightforward blow you up type of caster with decent utility and good survival.
Cata? - Enh is a very sub-par melee, being outclassed by nearly all other melees besides maybe Rets (which is arguable). Damage is alright but is frustrating depending on the Searing Totem/Searing Flames mechanic, which is dispellable, adding to the frustration, most end up rerolling a different melee to get better results with far less effort. Don't know any viable Enh comps in Cata.
Ele is a glass cannon, rape stuff every 2-3 mins class now, falls easily to pressure seeing as self-heals got nerfed to the ground in addition to increased CD on Grounding/Earthbind/Lach of a real defensive CD etc. It can work in Volcanocleave (Ele/Fire/Hpal) if Fire Mage is good at peeling you/CC'ing. Other than that most Shamans go Resto since its so OP...
Elemental for sure! Its harder to play and learn, takes a lot of skill to be good, but once you gain skill and experiance no one will stop you. I play elemental shaman since TBC and will never give up on him. ELEMENTAL RUlEZ! :D

yes. 3 button(4-th for fulmination) + 2 keybinds gameplay is the hardest from all, in bg's atleast.
you compare to melee, which needs to be in melee range to hit.
yes, ele is hard. that's why 95% dps shamans are ele, and doing top 1-3 dmg from all in bgs.
it is easier to be successful as elemental shaman, than retri paladins / blood dks in battlegrounds, and in arenas (3s aswel), in 2s it will be harder, because you are relying on fulmination crits, which even in arenas goes up to 50k
played ele on LK (sargeras) from patch 3.3.0.

and this is why most enhancement shamans specs into ele. they just don't know how-to enha, and if you are spamming all you can just to get WF proc .. well .. theres nothing to talk about with you.
in proper way, wf should be procced off stormstrike, not from autoattack, do you even know how hard it is to achiev ?
and no im not a "pro" (pro on molten? lol okay), altought i'm playing enha spec since opening of cata realms, there are still alot of tactics to learn against serveral clases.
My main character since the very beginning of WoW in retail is shaman. Here in Sargeras i have 2 shamans (yes, yes i know how it sounds to have 2 chars from same class in one realm...). One of them Ele, the other 1 enhance. I can argue with the person above who says enh is harder to play than Ele. Yes, elementals do tons of dmg in BGs and its easy to be successful there, but when the enemy is after your *** its whole new story.
Both specs are in perfect condition at this point of the game, enhancement especially is in its best shape since the vanilla and it all depends on your own preference as being stated earlier. Shamans have always been hard class to master, because of their unique game play, but whichever you chose and master you're going to be successful ;)
Enhancement is my all time fav spec, but i also enjoy playing elemental. I play both of them in 2s and getting to 2.2k+ with ease, sadly i have not enough time for WoW in the last few months and completely missed last season...
