Hey, guys. I've been debating myself whether I should write this post and ultimately decided to do so.
I'm really glad that the guild has reformed and even happier that (as far as I can see), 98 % of the old officers have stopped playing.
Minding the risk that what I say may come across as really bitter and butthurt, I'd like to share my experience with the guild.
When I first wrote to Axs to invite me, I was really pumped, did my homework and looked forward to make some friends and kill some big bads.
At first everything went smoothly but as time passed my frustration grew. My irk was the guild rank, seeing as to how although I was in the guild for some time and participated in every single raid, I didn't get promoted (and some people who joined later than me and didn't contribute as much as me got promoted).
I remember that some guildie asked in gchat when's he gonna get promoted and I jokingly answered that I've been with the guild for 2 months (I think) and still the same rank (I think it was recruit or something like that). To my suprise, one of the officers retorted that I shouldn't be complaining about that or I'll get demoted (he was 100 % serious, mind that).
My second most frustrating moment was during a graid in ICC 25 when the leader of the raid (not sure who exactly) decided to do a DPS check on the trash, out of the blue, and since you don't care about the trash I already blew half of my CDs because why not, I would have them for the boss. Long story short, I 'underperformed' and got kicked from the raid. After 10 minutes of explaining on my part they invited me back.
The final straw was a few weeks later. The raids were scheduled via the calendar addon and as long as you checked yourself in and showed up- you get a spot in the raid. So, the weekly ICC 25 is starting, and as usual I'm pumped and 30 minutes early (important to mention I've already declined the offers of my friends to hang out, choosing to commit to playing). While cleaning the trash I get a whisper from one of the officers saying that they've decided to remove me from the raid so another person can join in my place. I was just staring blankly for 10 seconds, then left the raid, left the guild, had a 10 min conversation with one of the other officers, logged out and deleted all of my chars (6 lvl 80s, 3 of which were 5,2 gs +) and uninstalled the game.
I haven't exaggerated any of those 'stories', just needed to vent. In the end, I made no friends whatsoever and had an overall terrible and frustrating experience. Thanks for reading.
* This is my opinion as a member of this guild and it's not related in any way to the views of officers.
I don't think you were in the guild in the last 4-5 months because we don't use the g-callendar anymore. Anyways, we hear stories like this everyday from our ex-gmates so it's not a surprise.
I don't know where you come from but I never ever saw a dps test in this guild...like ever. Well, if you had a character of 6k gs or so it's normal that you underperformed.
From my personal experience I can tell you that normal players are trials for 1 month while very good players can become members in just 2 weeks. For the later players which are like 2 months as trials...then, you have 2 options : 1. 70% chance of being gkicked because you had enough chances but you never performed good enough. and 2. You will get promoted to member because you are very active, a friendly player and you grew up very much in performance during the time you were in guild.
Anyways, most of the trials get kicked for being innactive.
Severance has been the best guild I ever joined and participated in. The thing is each guild has their own character and dynamics. Being a great raider does not guarantee that you will fit in, there's a personality involved. Seems you just didn't click with the officers, and I would go as far as bluntly stating you probably under performed despite attendance and didn't socialise as you should (it's not a requirement for promotion per se, but this is hidden and important, a guild is a community, not an organised pool of pugs for raiding).
I'm really shocked to see you bad mouthing a really good guild back in the days (seems you were talking about Severance some 18 to 24 months ago). Severance has changed tremendously to its current state, it is completely different now.
Ps. Anyone who rage deletes his chars because of bad experience in a single guild shouldn't play this game. It just shows you lack patience to find that right place and some temperamental issues. On the positive side, this would've improved your rl friendships, with wow out the way, they should come first.
First of all, I'm not badmouthing anyone. Can you see any names in my post (beside that of Axs) ?
I'm just writing in the forum topic of the guild, sharing my experience. If you're mature enough you'll understand that not everything is pink and roses.
To warpzone:
I had good relationships with the members of the guild but not with the officers. I've helped a lot of people both with advice and tips, and gold, materials and especially gearing up.
As far as performance is concerned it was normal for my class/ gear/ spec, nothing special since some of the classes like mage were OP and thus outshine the others. Lastly, I deleted my characters because I gave a lot of my time and effort for the guild, not as much as the officers of course, but still you expect something back (not material but at least respect). It's all about principles and not what word corresponds to your name when you open the guild tab.
To justAnca:
As I stated, I had a conversation with one of the officers about that particular days and how my plans turned out sour and what he proposed was humiliating enough to worsen the situation.
To Blackstar7:
When I was playing, your curent GM still had greens on him, I've even helped him personally a few times.
I was shocked too that they did a DPS test on a graid. And pretty flustered too.
I didn't want special treatment and probably come off as a douche while writing this but I just wanted being treated properly.
I don't think you will gain anything from bringing up the past. If you want to come back you are always welcome to apply at severance.tk. I don't know how it was back then but be sure that the guild is changed a lot now.
You actually wiped the raid with no good excuses .kthxbai
xDxDxDxDxD
Dude just accept you wiped us without excuses xD . It happened to me a lot of times to raid at sindra with no dbm and I saw frost beacon debuff .
