Guys, this "requirement" shouldn't exist, people just need to know tactics and have the required ilvl not to have killed the boss already. That's just stupid, I don't understand where did this idea come from.

Of course the idea is flawed, but the logic behind it is that, knowing the tactics isn't the same as applying and that you can just lie that you know the tactics. People think that if you have the achievement, then you downed the boss and that you definitely know what you're doing. I am not a fan of this requirement either because people can get carried, and people who actually know the fights, can never get into a raid. The best way to solve that is to get into a guild that is willing to raid with members who don't have the achievement. Like I said, this idea is severely flawed, but in the end it is the best way to gauge how successful a run will be considering that you and everyone else they are getting from global is a random pugger.
You have a point but there are some alternatives, you can ask that a requirement would be to have RaidCall or TS so the leader can explain the tactic and yell to people who are doing it so wrong so they react right away. PVE would way more active this way.
you're talking abt molten PuG o.o greedy, skilless bastards who wants to get carried fast cuz they were also rejected from previous PuG raids for not having achieve and uses the excuse "doesn't have time to play".
How to by-pass? create your own. ofc you'd need to know the tactics yourself.
If you create your own and people who joins see that you don't have achieve they leave :D
Not really. You don't ask for achieve. And you'll probably find the good players who knows tactics but do not have achieve.
Now if you think about it, this isn't just for wow but for rl also. It's like having a college degree. Proof that you have achieved something. When applying for a job the one with proof that he/she has done that job before would certainly get a better advantage compared to those who only say they know how to. :x
Meh...agreed
alot of people really don't care if they gimp the raid or get yelled at. also i would think the raid leader might not want to deal with that trash or at least filter out some of those people
Yeah let us be honest not much people have the patience for this, let alone the patience to even stick with a PUG raid when there is a wipe, I'd say this is one of the primary reasons why people ask for achievements too as many are just horrible at actually teaching the mechanics or are very limited in their knowledge (likely carried).
In any event considering that this tends to apply more on PUG runs than on actual guild runs or applications it isn't that big of a deal, after all you can't just take the word of a total stranger with regard to their "knowledge".
If you really want to try and join a raid and have no guild to help you out my advice is to watch out for global on the day of raid lock out resets, people are usually more lenient in recruiting. Or yes make your own run, again the day of the raid lock out reset makes people less likely to be picky about the run they're in.
An acheivement assumes the idea that the player has at least completed the instance/ raid. And if they have completed it people assume tht they know it.
If you are looking for a good pug the best way to have one is to make it yourself. Any pug i bring to any raid goes through a 2 step process. Gear Check and Role Check.
My gear checking normally consists of ilvl, reforging, gemming, and enchants. Should they not mee t my criteria you ask a "why" or" what about this?" to see if they know how to gear their toon properly.
Role checking i ask about the players role in the raid and test their knowledge/ability. For dps is simply dps check without cooldowns. For healers i ask about core abilities and about their gemming specifically, and for tanks i ask tactics and about CTC cap.
If a pug passes both phases of the screening i accept them into the group. Most of the pug groups i've led go wither 4/7 or 6/7 depending on how well rhyo goes.
It's impossible to check the skill level based off a whisper of "I haz 340 item level, know all tacteeks".
I would rather take somebody with a higher item level over a lower, unless I know the capability of somebody. The reason I would take the higher item level is for the raw damage/healing output and pray they are not ******ed enough to be able to do more than a lower item leveled individual.
I gave up on PUGs on Wrath.
If you ever plan on PUGing anything, do not PUG tanks.
