I have enough coins to spend in order to get a Best In Slot character. I do not wish to do it on MoP because it isn't fully patched yet, so anything I buy will be obsolete in the future. I can't save the coins either, because Molten is making us spend or lose them within 30 days.
As a result, I am going to get a Best In Slot Enhancement Shaman on WotLK or Cata.
Does anyone know which of those two expansions would be considered the best one for Enhancement Shamans in PvP?
Another way of asking the question: Were Enhancement Shaman better at PvP in WotLK or Cata?

Disregarding the fact that you'll probably be vs'ing people with no gear at all at the moment.
Enhancement Shamans in WotlK were quite hit and miss, they can absolutely murder cloths, mages especially, but it can be pure luck depending on your build (Crit WF build is legit as **** though, One hit kill anyone but a bear if they proc :D)
Enhancement Shamans in Cata were actually really good, having quite a few more tools at their disposal, but most of all their survivability went up 10 fold cause of maelstrom procs, and their 4 second(IIRC?...) wind shear is a god tier interrupt.
IMO, I enjoyed them in WotlK due to their randomness with specific builds, but I wouldn't say they're amazing, Cata made them strong as balls, and if you like pressing buttons it's quite a fun class, but if you're squeemish about playing on really low health I wouldn't bother, the amount of duels I've won being at 10% and not dieing for a minute or so are too many to count.
But as said, at the moment with no one being fully gear'd (or very little) you'll pretty much just one hit anyone anyway.

So is this really true? would a Cata enhance shaman be much better compared to its WotLK counterpart? What are the real benefits in going cata enhance compared to WotLK?

Very true. Played enhance in both expansions and the cata shaman is far superior than the wotlk shaman.
Cata = more survivability amongst a more fair/equal pvp environment. Enhancement has a higher damage output in cata with unleash elements and lava lash which actually does damage.
Wotlk = High burst, very squishy (you can murder the absolute crap out of clothies), you don't have a whole lot of survivability against say a facerolling ret or smourne warrior (unless you're full wrathful) but they're beatable. You'll cry when you lava lash someone with 35k health for 200-300 damage QQ :(.

hmm interesting, so is it true, Cata is a better pvp environment than WotLK? Wrath is so dominated by Pallies and DKs...I just can't determine whats a better expansion for those interested in PvP

Cata's definitely better if you're playing enhancement. Wotlk enhancement is still damn good, it's just not great when you it's 1v2 or more than that. Only class I seemed to ever have a big problem with was a highly geared arms warrior in wrath.

Wotlk enhance shami was stronger in furious and relentles arena season. Because of the high level pve gear in 3.3.5 enhance shami get obliterated by some classes. Beastcleave also sucks in 3.3.5...

i can tell you that in cata your only enemy is dk(especially bdk,but unholy is a nightmare too),eveything else is no problem
