It depends, if it's the first date it's polite for a guy to pay, if the couple is chill, together for a while and are self conscious about the money, they split the costs.

Well I usually cover the expenses, I guess it's polite, but it depends from couple to couple.
True, but we like payed for separate stuff. I paid for the drinks and she later bought us some popcorn, so it's cool. Anyway, it's just money, I'm not so needy for it unlike most people.
