    So i did a thing

So this week at my art school was block week. and the class i was in was printmaking. last year i was learning a technique called "dry-point" which is scratching an image into a sheet of plastic then inking it and printing it. this time however i decided to do something i haven't done before and that was a highly detailed dry-point as i had been doing simple Lego masks before this. and seeing as im a WoW fan i chose one of the characters. i chose Nozdormu and trust me trying to get every single bit of detail scratched is harder than u think. after doing the print i decided to bring in color and proceeded to color in the dry-point to bring it to life. This is it so far :D

This is pretty awesome. What makes it even cooler is the process you chose to create this. Keep up the great work :D

This is pretty cool. Could you show us a picture of the plastic sheet as well, possibly? Just curious since I've never tried something like that.

There's a difference between an Artist and an Artisan. The Artists creates ideas, everything he thinks is completely new to this Universe, he brings stuff to this thing, you know? He fails in life and doesn't care about "Creating" his ideas on a physical form, he is ok because he knows that he already created them... The Artisans... They... Uhm... You know? They just make stuff, they try to recreate the most easy and simple things with the most complicated and hard techniques, I don't understand why an Artisan would want to recreate, let's say that "Piece of Art" refering to the drawing of the character, you could just draw it, it would look cleaner, better... It's not Art, Art was when they created that character, who he is or I don't know... Not when every boy in the world draws it on their notebook, you know? It's like if the most talented painter paints a forest and mountains and animals... and it is so beautiful, it's almost real, like a photograph, bla bla bla... he didn't created anything, he is just like a super human who can recreate images really good, he's not an Artist and he's not doing Art. He's an Artisan and is doing Art. Art and Art are different. Impressionists are ****, surrealists are Artists. Artists will always fail because what they create on their heads is not even possible to recreate in the real world. That's why that dude that painted cut his own ear you know? He was like... Nevermind, you just can't understand the frustration of being a piece **** and not being able to do **** about it to fix our amazing, fun interesting lives, I mean we can be happy and live a normal life and die happy, like a normal Human Being... But it sucks to know that it's just **** you know?

    You're so young.

    Oh look, a Tortured Artist.

Copying other art is a valid way of improving technical ability and I don't understand why you feel the need to disparage someone learning a new skill by ****ting out this pile of pretentious garbage on their thread. You lack a fundamental understanding of the terms you're attempting to use: art is an expression of creativity for its own sake; artisanship is the skillful creation of something with a practical use. Expressing oneself requires some technical knowledge, so practicing things like this facilitates (other) artistic creations. Only a fool would think otherwise; it's impossible to deny that Dali practiced the technical skill of oil painting before creating The Persistence of Memory, or that e e cummings studied and understood perfectly English grammar and punctuation before violating it to great effect in his poetry. Then again, I don't know why I would expect the basic level of coherent thought necessary to understand such a simple concept from someone who condemns impressionism and idolizes Van Gogh in the same paragraph. But please, don't led me dissuade you from deluding yourself into thinking your angst and frustration provide you with anything valuable to say.
