for as much as I appreciate the nostalgia, I'm glad its not gonna be open.

there already is a lot of work to be done on current expansions/realms to utilize resources on a new undertaking.

maybe we can get cloud serpent riding instead? /jk
Mop dont have anything with wotlk, different people work on those expansions and with that realm they will still have same people that work on wotlk it would be same like other 2 realms but only x1 .

The poll was a bit poor. The sample size was too small to determine a reason. Should have let everyone ingame know atleast 14 days in advance for a *major* poll, like the 2010 runescape.

    Respect for trying.

Yes, the poll was dismissed because the route it was taking was obvious. 65% or so of people voting on it vote yes, but the majority of the posts were only negative responses to the thread. The data of the poll remains relevant, but as always, we will make the decision on our own. Lordaeron lives, but for now, we will be operating it on a test capacity and playing on it (it's available for others to play on) so we can test and iron out the leveling experience.
As for the rates of the other realms and possibility of changing their rates, it is unlikely they will become 1x, but the rates they will be in the future is 'to be determined'.

As above, we're testing the leveling experience on the realm and streaming some of it. We want to document and share some of the experience and fun.

It will remain closed. We already have a pretty good idea what the community's opinion on the matter is. Which is why we will be going forward with the realm, but we're going to be taking some time doing it.

We're playing Horde by the way.
Your sample size was way too small to determine complete community output.

    Then there is still hope.

I too think it's better if you take this kind of decisions by your own without asking for kevins' opinions who want Warmane to be a fun server. I know you want as much as possible to satisfy the community but I'm sure you're well aware that you also have to clear up wether you want to give us a Blizzlike experience or not, regardless of how some of us may react.

Anyway, thank you for your answers.

I have a very important question!

Some of my friends and I, along with many other we've met has started to play on Lordaeron, we're already very excited and are planning our questing and lvling together.

HOWEVER, There's apparently a rumor that once the testing phase has been completed and Lordaeron goes official, all th characters will be deleted!? Is this true? Please dont tell us its true. We're already playing pretty much every day and it sounds like it will take a long time before Lordaeron goes official. So please dont tell us all our characters will be erased.

What I am asking is, is it safe to play on Lordaeron? The bugs doesnt bother us, as long as we can play on the x1 realm and still keep our characters :)

Please let us know! Thank you!

Lordaeron being launched isn't even confirmed. Yes, all characters will be lost. Play on it only if you'd like to help testing.

For specifically accurate data, sure. But we aren't looking for exact numbers. The general consensus is more than enough.

Most likely characters will be wiped. As stated previously, the realm is being run in a test capacity. Initially, it was intended to be staff-access-only, but those parameters were removed because "why the hell not". It would be important for everyone to have a fair start also, since I'm sure many people would be interested in realm firsts. Death Knights are also available for play, which not only adds to the unfairness of the leveling race, but I would expect some players to use Death Knights to mess with players who decided to level other classes who would be lower level.

I loved Lordaeron as much as Frostwolf when it was WOTLK but when a realm start to die major changes need to be done but right now its Open for Testing for everyone :) molten/warmane didnt do this in a long time so im grateful that they approved to make it free for all to test it :D

Oh damn, thats so bad to hear :( We were really excited to finally play on Lordaeron again... It sounds like you guys still have a lot more work to do so I assume Lordaeron wont be official for some time. Wouldnt it be possible to just let players start now "at their own risk" with all the bugs and fixes going on, and to block access to Death Knights? :) Like I said, there are a lot of us who would like to start NOW haha :D

    Lordaeron: Differential/Variable Realm Rates

In the past weeks, there has been an ongoing discussion about the realms' Experience/Reputation/Profession/Gold/Drop[common,uncommon,rare,epic,legendary] rates. The user opinions on this important topic can be categorized into three well-marked standpoints:

1.) Lower the rates for all (appeases low rate seeking players, but considerably displeases high rate seeking players)
2.) Allow players to set/change their personal XP rate (appeases both high and low rate seeking players)
3.) Have differential/variable rates for realms of a given expansion (i.e., like it was before the molt-down)
I believe the attempt of bringing Lordaeron back fits into option 3.); I disagree with this idea because it may segregate not capped WotLK realms causing further population bleeding; and favor option 2.) instead. In case any of you is interested in taking part in this ongoing discussion, please follow the thread from the post I quoted above. It has certainly many interesting replies/posts including user-based straw polls for us to express our preferences and give the staff feedback on this topic.

So, is there any possibility Raggy might go back to 20x? Or are rates just gonna go down?

of course mop doesnt share developers with wrath

HOWEVER in management terms, any new realm/project/undertaking does take time and resources from the current ones. Its at least one more point of discussion in the meetings agenda, as the staff has already mentioned.

they can let go a couple of developers working on wrath and hire new ones to work on mop. and maybe finally fix mages' mirror image that's been sitting on the bug tracker for almost a year and still is not fixed (seems like the staff doesn't really like casters *cough*all warriors maybe?*cough*) or to make warmane more competitive with other mop servers, fix cloud serpent riding.

like i said, lordaeron is a nice nostalgic project.

but with all due respect to the staff, there are a couple of servers that have already captured this market and are working very close to bliz like perfect conditions. I'm pretty sure they know them, those are very well oiled machines that have been around for a very long time.

Lordaeron was very attractive though before the "Moltdown" server hijack . I am sure the staff has data on how populated Lordaeron was. It would certainly attract people back to Molten/Warmane.

Also I have a thing I would like to tell the Staff/Gm/Moderators here. A lot of people are starting to play on the Lordaeron Alpha server, and most of them doesnt realize that this is just a test server (I didnt, until now) and that all characters will be erased once Lordaeron is finished and becomes official.
I've talked to many of these players and they are shocked and somewhat upset that they had been playing for hours.
Molten/Warmane, you're doing an amazing job and im not trying criticize you, letting us join you on the Alpha server was very nice of you, HOWEVER I would suggest you to make an official statement and inform people this is indeed JUST a test server and that all characters will be erased at the end.
Do this now as soon as possible, otherwise you might end up losing potential player/customers because they will get angry over their wasted game time, and then give up and not give the real official lordaeron server a chance after their hard earned character has been deleted (because they didnt know that this would happen). Many of the players dont read the forum and thus has little information what this Lordaeron Alpha stage server really means.

In short, let the community know this is just a test server and it will be reset once it becomes official, otherwise players will feel "betrayed" yet again when they discover that their characters has been lost (just because they didnt do enough research to find out this had always been the case)

None of that is relevant. Just so you know.

"Lordaeron [ALPHA]" on the realmlist, and a spam message in-game each and every time a person logs in would be enough, you'd think. If those neon signs aren't enough, then there's not a whole lot else we could do that would deliver the message, if anything at all.
