Cata fire mage combustion help

I'm having trouble with my fire mage and it frustrates me to the point of wanting to just delete the toon. I'm at 395 item level atm, i have my 2 set. I have mikscrollingbattle text addon as well as combustion helper to help me with it. I stand at dummy and do my rotation and wait for a good ignite. Sometimes im just spamming fireball and try to build my ignite, use my hot streak procs and the most i usually get is like 45k ignite so i try combust with that because someone said i should have a nice 30-50k ignite to use. 300k combust. Bull****. I can stand there for ages until im oom and i wont get a good ignite. Then sometimes after i combust i get 60-70k ignite. Same thing happened at madness. I was trying to do a good burst at boss i just wasnt getting a good ignite so i combust at 40k ignite, i switch to corruption and i get a 90k ignite. I'm hit capped, i have 1560 haste and 31.31% crit self buffed. I honestly don't know what I can do to improve my dps, and mostly my burst. I know fire mages are at the mercy of RNG more than most specs but it's so frustrating, especially when i hear some fire mages (full bis of course, but still) burst 280k and im sitting there with my 30k crying. Any tips?

the losers that tell you they do 280k burst are lying ****s....a fully geared fire mage BIS without the legendary staff doesnt do over lets say....60k with a very lucky combust (outside of DS)
DS damage does not count considering the increased damage at some bosses

fire is one of the hardest if not the hardest specs to play in cata...theres a ton of things to keep track of, a ton of reapplying dots, a ton of RNG and the bottom line is that its just not worth it
if you really like it, keep playing it and master it, if you wanna get awesome dps without going mad over a stupid combust proc...just go arcane and enjoy the noobs qqing

not true about 60k outside of DS

btw. u just need to practice more and 30-50k ignite in DS its like nothing

+280k burst without legendary staff its not possible and even with that weapon u must be really lucky to do that ..im like 410 and max burst at madnes 25 was only 180k

At 409 ilv the max I have been able to burst on heroic madness was 210k, which was like super RNG with everything lining up perfectly, usually it's between 120-180k burst anywhere, you just need the right luck and my luck is usually ****ing miserable. But you get those lucky times where everything lines up for a sweet 110k ignite and you combust and just watch everyone else cry. So stick with it, it's really all about RNG. I usually settle for any ignite over 40k at my item level with LB and Pyro dot up.

My advice is to just stick with it. You'll get the feel for the spec the longer you play it and soon you'll get the feel of what ignite is worth using or if you've got other procs about to happen that you should wait for.

Well, Arcane isn't better than Fire and Frost is only any good in dungeons, so just stick with Fire. Sometimes I'd get one numbers, the next time I'd get twice as much, or maybe half; I've been last in DPS, and then first - all on the same fight with the same gear.

Frustrating spec but I will stick with it because when you get that perfect combust its worth it (I can only imagine at least, hasn't happened for me yet :P). Thanks for your comments.

Yeah **** this spec. I got my 4 set now, im 402 ilvl and I still cant do any good dps. At the start of madness i never get an ignite worth combusting so i use it on like 40k and obviously i never get good burst. My best was 90k but I always fall off to 45k. I wish i could refund the 3 items i got so i can use those coins on another class because I refuse to switch to arcane. Watching PoV vids, reading guides, none of it has helped. I see fire mages with worse gear than me consistently pull much better dps and it makes me feel pathetic.

Be arcane instead, much more better in pve or bgs.
