Well i wud like to KISS the wartorn chest..
    Keep It Simple n Stupid..
    1. To remove any possibilities of monopoly over the chest by any End-geared guilds , make the spawn point of the chest random in any predetermined zones (lets say 3)and donot give out info on all the possible spawn points. Let the game start with bit of a luck and sharp eyes on minimap (if its visible in minimap ofc ; who can possibly see a tiny chest that has random spawn point).
    2. As soon as someone takes the Bloody Purse, let there be a server side message announcing the name of the person who has it in inventory.
    3. Make the person holding the Bloody Person a temporary Enemy of server like a boss or something as long as he holds it and make him hostile tagged for everyone, even for those in party wud be good.
    4. /who xyz for others ( thanks to server side notorious broadcast) and Let the hunt for that player begin!!
    5. Disable mount, flight, stealth,HS,Portals(Just incase if its a mage, we dont want it to port forever) for the holder and maybe a debuff on him to others saying "Dont just wait , Go get him mon!!!" + Daze-able Movement speed increased . Let him atleast run for his life while he can lel...
    6. Instead of coins , rewards can be a list of Season PVP gears perhaps, afterall its a pvp event, dont wanna spoil it for PVE players!

But if u gonna make it a war in Hillsbrad's 3 known locations , it definitely isnt "World PVP" , its just a Hillbrad's Donator Guild War ( no offense).

Good ideas in a few of them, except perhaps the FFA part where its implementation appears to be more challenging as we think through possible consequences and required custom modifications (which we don't want). The way I see it fit for the time being is that Wartorn Chest can continue running in test-run mode (still awards its 1-15 coins) and we polish it without officially releasing it. Today's Ragnaros was great, there were some pockets of PvP from South Shore to Tarren Mill with about 7-15 players participating in each. The balance changed when two Horde multiboxers arrived with about 20 and 35 characters in each, which sniped out Alliance players eventually allowing Horde dominate the area until the chest spawned and was looted.

For the next event we will consider multiboxing aspect and how to mitigate it without interfering or making exceptional rules. The idea of adding +1 zone to Wartorn Chest's possible spawn location sounds logical and can correct most of the issues that happened yesterday on Deathwing (stacking on precise location) and a few of issues from today's Ragnaros run where multiboxers patrolled a relatively narrow area sniping Alliance and potentially having advantage of looting the actual chest as well if it were to be contested.

Please keep in mind that by increasing a spawn time range to 2 hours and considering adding another zone is considered to alleviate monopolizing and make it more accessible to regular players. We are not looking to make it excessively unknown and spread out because that would be more suitable for exploration, not world PvP. Adding it anywhere in the world is as good as not adding at all, whereas knowing approximate locations and times would add an incentive and have a hopefully balanced amount and density of players in expected zones. Keep the ideas coming, we're reading them.

    We were two multiboxer.
Me (Borug) with 10 chars and there was also Purplebeer with 25 chars.
I killed around 6 allys and then left the area after u whispered me.
I dont think that we multiboxer had such a big impact on the fight because there was hardly any alliance so we killed only a few individuals.

Btw, I dont know if its a bug but the chest just spawned again at around 18:30 server time and I looted it.
Bloody purse was inside but nothing else.

It's currently still running in test mode so such issues are expected. The only person who won is the actual first person that got to loot it and that player is manually awarded.

Gurubashi Arena could work, it`s a native FFA zone. There`s also the Nagrand Arena and the Ring of Blood in the outlands which are both FFA too, but could bring some flying mount issues with them. However, they aren`t really significant because you`ll still have to dismount eventually to loot.

So here is my review/feedback for this event, the event it self is good except the reward being coins i don't like that, but then again it brings out more people for the event itself now everything was going smooth until the multiboxers arrived. And before someone decides to tell me how it brings a challenge and how a premade group could easily wipe out a multiboxer... this isn't a Bg and it's not something that unites people like deffending a capitol city, there were certain groups but you have to understand that the people in those groups were either going to share the price (coins) or just work to getting them to a certain player (most likely a friend). But the multiboxer who is already Bis or atleast above avarage players can take the reward for himself and does not have to share it with anyone because its being controlled by one person. And i have to mention that the groups i saw were not more than 5 people so this isn't much of a grouping event if you get what i am saying and event if there were groups in the end they will have to get on the same page as to who will claim the reward if they are going to split it or i not. And what was with you people killing low level players that were questing i mean people 5/5 wrathful killing a 25 + level pathetic in my eyes and i will try to explain why...these guys had nothing to do with the event, gave you no honor at all and by all means did not interfere or were a threat to you or a competition for claiming the reward. So in conclusion the event it self is a good idea it just needs some rules (even if custom) cause this is a custom event after all (nothing blizzlike).

I get ur point. Just want to say that we multiboxer didnt go there to get the chest reward. We were just bored and were searching for some world pvp action.

View the situation from a different perspective. If Purplebeer and me would have been on the alliance side in this Deathwing battle from yesterday then we would have seen a more balanced and interesting fight.
Believe it or not but we multiboxer are also searching for a challenge and prefer to fight for the weaker faction.

Make the chest have an ambient hunter's flare around it, so it would pull all people out of stealth. That way it becomes a team effort and not a single person trying to ninja the rewards. What people are forgetting is if the person is in your raid and grabs the items, it will pvp flag them like in the Gurubashi arena, etc, making it FFA. I'm pretty sure you can get around that in a group invite, but if you limited it so you couldn't. You wouldn't be able to heal that person because you're then marked as a pvp target. It essentially becomes a coordinated match of "King of the Mountain". I don't think it's a polished idea, but something along this thinking sounds like it would be a good idea.

Just a thought, but could we implement sound alerts for World Boss Spawns as well?

  9. July 3, 2015
i believe this event is an uter failure to anything even close to world pvp.
If you want world pvp, why dont you rather make it so at the time of the chest spawn, instead of spawning the chest, you make it so the faction leaders drop this item in question? THAT would be much more interesting than a freaking chaotic chest run. City invasion and defense? Sounds like pvp to me.

i wasnt clear in my writing- I meant YES you should give ZONE- but NOT where in the zone it is..... so the chest is in ashenvale- exmpl.

you must find it. if it takes an hour.... thats a hour of people clashing throughout....looking for a small chest. and it will be found.

let me tell you what kind of content i would make to encourage world pvp.

    Quest -
    -----
    Title: The Warmane Trial.
Given by: Varian Wyrmm and Thrall (each to their faction players)
    Description:
"<Class>, wish you prove your value to the Alliance/Horde, serve us now in this moment! Lend your sword in this time of need.
The Horde/Alliance are gaining on to us, and they need be shown where their limitations lay.
You must invade Orgrimmar/Stormwind and assassinate Thrall/King Varian, and show them there is no end to our determination, there is no end to the reach of our kingdom."

    Objectives:
"Kill Thrall the Warchief/King Varian and return to King Varian/Thrall"

    Rewards:
----enter something like Sack of Spoils here, but for your coins or whatever you want.

    Considerations:
This could be a weekly quest, or something that cant be done at whatever the time. I know daily quests get activated and updated to the client (question mark appears shown out of the blue) from the code, so it could also be made for this quest to appear at the same timeframe your Wartorn Chest thing you made there. Plus you can also trigger the music and add a -so needed- system message announcing the event, even with code. No GM, no staff, no mainteanance needed of no kind.

    End of story.

Rewarding exploration is by far the best way to encourage world PvP, the two are tightly linked together. The reason world PvP was so prominent during Vanilla was because Azeroth was still relevant and people had a reason to venture outside of their cities to do things. Adding an incentive for people to roam Azeroth once again will result in more world PvP overall, at all times. Whereas adding an incentive to go to a set location or two, at a set time period will result in more "world" PvP in those set locations for a few hours before everyone hearths back to Dalaran to play bejeweled while they wait for their queues to pop up.

I suggest at least drastically increasing the number of zones these chests spawn in, splitting the reward into smaller pieces with more frequent spawn time and making them appear in hand-picked, attractive for PvP locations in Azeroth like Blackrock Mountain, caves, city ruins, places with multiple elevations and uncommon terrain. This guy has the right idea. As much as vanilla players like to nostalgia all over their screens when it comes to Southshore vs Tarren Mill, the middle of Hillsbrad is as dull as it gets in terms of cool things you can pull off. The goal here is to create multiple smaller world PvP hot spots with potential-rich terrain that are constantly active as opposed to one big melee that is active for only a few hours a day, like some sort of malnourished twin of Wintergrasp.

+1 , Precisely the reason why more than 1 zone has to be involved to make the event dynamic as possible..All over the world , is a bad idea ofc..But Predetermined more than 1 zone will eventually make the zones pvp zones ( I say this, coz of my Spiritbeast hunts and camping xp, when something is special ,it will gain its attention no matter how far it is or inside any boring caves! )
Also this ambitious project will not make it any custom, coz all ull be adding is a simple chest for world PVP-inspiration and 1 or 2 server messages and maybe a yet to discover simple idea of how to spawn the chest :-P . Rest is upto us PVP-Freaks :-D

...is what i tried to say many pages back- but this guy here absolutely says it better.

well.. for me.. i would ratherly preferred it like REAL NASTY DUNGEON.. make a portal randomize in hillsbrad foothills.. once u enter that portal.. ALL PLAYER IS VULNERABLE TO ATTACK(so no one is exceptable on damage for teaming up).. guarded by 3 boss which means u have to kill 3 boss before the chest pop-out for looting.. if u die but the 3 boss is still stand with their foot.. u can return to portal.. but if the 3 boss guard die and u die also.. u cannot return to portal.. the last man stand in the said dungeon will be the winner.. (DONT MIND THIS ONE IF U DONT WANT THIS).. if the 3 boss die.. all player inside will teleported outside the dungeon(so that no one is teaming up inside so they need to teleport back outside of the portal).. the MAN WHO WILL GET OUTSIDE OF THE PORTAL BRINGING THE CHEST WIN THE GAME..

OPTION: i would preferabbly the chest will be IMMUNE to looting until the 3 boss is not dead..

let's say i combined the world of DUNGEON QUEST.. PVP ALL U CAN.. LIKE A BOSS.. LAST MAN STANDING.. and HUNGRY FOR FORTUNE..

i would say.. it is cooler.. more violent PVP.. more craziness.. be a monster.. and MAKE UR OWN WAY..
