WotLK PVE Rogue Spec

Hello fellow rogues, I've got a very important question bugging me since I decided to return on Wotlk with a bunch of nostalgic friends: I always rolled assassination just because I like the flavour behind it, and never really cared about optimal dps, but since now my friends and I are aiming toward a more serious playstyle I began to read about different bugs found here on Warmane which affect all rogue specs the made me question my spec choice. Therefore I ask you, should i roll Assassination or Combat, and why?

Very easy answer to this - Combat.

Combat generally pulls better DPS than Assass right now, it's less punished by frequent movement and target-swapping, and it brings a pretty important buff (the 4% increased physical damage taken) that's provided by only 2 specs in the game: combat rogues and Arms Warrior, the latter being something you should virtually never see in raids.

Thanks a lot for your answer, which brings another couple of questions to my mind: is HnS still bugged on this server, as I read it was months ago? Is it still better to go for sword/axe (which i really dislike on a Rogue) instead of CQC and daggers? And which are the bugs that I can't avoid having to deal with as a Rogue in general?
