Few days ago I met a Grievous geared Unholy DK when I multiboxed my 4 Shamis and for some weird reason his dots were hitting extremly hard. I was able to kill him in a couple of seconds with my 4 shamis but he managed to spread his disease and all my chars lost like 50% of their health just from the ticking disease.
No idea what this Dk does different than other Dks but his dots hit harder than of a affli lock.
ah-ha so im not the only one, im full gear frost dk, never lost to an unholy before, it was only last week that i bump into and unholy dk, by the look of his health, im pretty he was only half gear, i did beat him but his dot is insane, i was manage to survived with only 10% health left.

Based on what you are telling me, you stacked haste instead of str and mastery. In my own point of view, Blood Presence DK vs Frost Presence are just the same, in terms of how long they would last. The other DK has more armor but does not hit as strong as the other. It would still be all about skill.
Unholy should win frost any day, with same skill level. The fact that reaping is still bugged, specially when you use icy touch the runes never turn to death. And the pet does not benefit any dmg increase from shadow infusion or when it's enraged. Pet and Reaping are Unholy's advantage, and it's broken. Unholy CAN stay in blood presence all day because they benefit a lot from it than Frost does. Till then, I'm staying as Frost.
If the question is are they viable, then yes - they are viable.
But under no circumstances that means they are fixed or as good as they should be. No matter what you should be able to easily achieve 2k-2,2k rating if you know the class.
I right now have a 522 udk, the damage is not as high as it should be but without any trouble I'm 2kish never tried to push rate only capped. I do like the mechanics of udk way better as fdk so I prefer to run it even tho it's probably not as close to being fixed as fdk.
both are viable, unholy less so due to reaping and some other bugs. unholy requires more attention then frost so you won't see as 'many' successful unholy dks as you do frost. people fail to realize it's all about the necrotic strikes.
1,254,772 healing reduction. ofc it'll be much lower in a pvp setting. unholy dk is not too difficult but people don't seem to get it. to simplify it.. necrotic strike, is a CC. you do NOT cc the healer when you have your necrotic strike stacks maxed, the same as how you don't cyclone a healer when he's poly'd.
say your partner is a druid. try and keep the fight near a pillar. let's say you're using the proc trinket. you have your diseases up, you have 4 death runes, your trinket procs. so your druid uses cyclone, you pop your cooldowns [haste buff, racial or 2nd trinket if human.. i forgot to pop racial in above screenshot, orc racial increases necrotic absorbs, transformation, gargoyle, and refresh dots with instant], you spam your 4 necrotics, and you have your 2 blood taps that i forgot to mention to make sure you have.. as well as a lot of rp] as well as your 5 min [or 6? server keeps crashing and its 7am and i have no sleep so my memory is fail atm] to stack a lot more necrotics, don't use your 2 blood taps in a row though, space them out while your partner is cc'n still. you should get more then your 2 blood taps [i used 2 or 3 in the above screen] to get more necrotics, due to using death coil in between. the enemy should be low with all your buffs and gargoyle and stuff going, you pop your finisher, continue spamming ss and dc. if your ns's fall off, strang healer, then ghoul stun, druid use disorient or bash or vortex [this is why it's important to be fighting near pillars, so druid can line up vortex to pull him behind the pillar].. by this time cyclone should be nearing dr end if not already, but the enemy should be dead anyway.. just make sure you don't use your finisher when they have too high of hp :P tis 7am, i probably missed a lot of stuff, as well as ****ed up my rotation in the screenshot.. but you get the idea.. uh is viable, it's also not too difficult, just remember NS is a cc.. it's stopping the healer from healing.. your druid can even root during the NS to make them lose the oppurtunity to work on their positioning during this time [sure they can dispel it.. but that's another global].. i'm only 506 ilvl, and i haven't really used my dk too much but yea, healer comps tend to fall easier to my uh dk then as frost
Correct, Necrotic Strikes are more powerful now, cuz they require Death Runes. And unholy can make 6 Death runes, that is a serious spam of Necrotics that turnes the tide of every battle.
So the ultimate answer to this thread: What type of DK is Viable in PvP?
Frost: Viable in BGs, a great target caller in RBGs, great for Duels. Could reach high rating in arena but cannot climb up to top 10.
Unholy: The way every skilled DK must be, Unholy is overpowered in every aspect of PvP. But it is broken as of now. You would see lots of Unholy DK everywhere when Unholy is Fixed.
ilyanah u rekt a warrior and filmed it? Please record some 2.6k rated videos and show me how you "rekt ppl" xD I know you back from hellthrones guild, we have dueled and played arenas, even did events together, but please, you have never been above 2.2.
My opinion was about Death knights on the rank 1 seat, not the scrub one. If a class cannot compete on the top seats no matter the skill, then it's not balanced.
About the resilence thingy, yeah I agree, we used to gem res etc.
I always end up shoving up the truth up their butts.
And something to make you mad even more, I won 100 coins by winning rank 1 5v5 with Hellthrone and the others. Sad he didn't pick you and you transferred to alliance. Now show me that you are above 2.4k rating? Or else just keep your mouth shut and stop acting like a pro.
I don't want to be rude or anything, but the PvP is always balanced around 3v3s. So any achievements regardless the 3s ladder are just weird.
Well, 2s has always been an option but there are patches when some specs are completely unviable in 2s thus making it not a accurate comparison of skill.
I have a lot of hate towards the 5s bracket. Firstly, none plays it so its kinda weird to say that you were the best team of 3 teams running for it, secondly it's just like a bg with premade.

Do I fit your "Skilled Catergory" now? It's funny how everyone looks down on me, thinking they know who I am. But they have no idea. What's next for me to prove? RBGs?
On that rank 1 5v5, that was waaay back in 2012-2013 winter season where 5v5 still has a prize to be won, 100 coins+mount of choice. There were lots of legit 5v5 teams queing. And they are all after that prize. We won coins and that's all that matters. And we won the last prize ever to be won in 5v5 brackets. It was removed because the other team that we were up against were wintrading just to get passed our rating.
I am helping my fellow Death Knights realize that they could become more than what they are, and you people just blindly drop bombs on me which I would eventually deflect. I don't call myself a Sargeras Legend for no reason, even if no one cares.
