it would be terrible advertisement for them if it does not launch somewhere on 25th of september. I think they will try all they can to do the release on that day ^^

Yeah it's usually max 20-30 people on the PTR.

Also the way I see it is that not alot are on the PTR because they know that all characters will get wiped and most want to play for fun, not to test for bugs.

People have had that issue before... Try like restarting the game or try to change realms and what not.. Clear Cache and variety of things... It usually worked after a few attempts...

When you change realm and get stuck, just go back to the login screen and log back in. This works for me.

Before the realm launches, for a stress test, you could decide on an hour when there is maximum population online and make an announcement that the first 4-5k that login on the appointed hour will get a reward. Eg- 1-2 coins, some vote points, a custom tabard, a pet or any small reward. Maybe even 1-5g reward.

I don't see a problem this^^ Give players a reason to mass onto the PTR, regardless of what realm they play on so you can do your best on testing the stress

-id find it hard to believe the kind of folks who will endure our long grinding lordaeron realm wont jump on to help out any stress test as a simple show of celebration - breaking the champagne on the ship mast so to speak...
